We know from the beginning of time starting in Genesis that God breathed in to man the breathe of life, and man became a living soul. Amen!
John 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. (Jesus Christ)
So, when John tells us in his Gospel that life is in Jesus the Christ and he is the light of men we should be able to understand that we need Jesus in our lives. To have light in our lives we must asked Jesus into in our hearts. John goes on to tell us that the world does not understand this. Because of sin, we are unable to see Jesus who is the Light and, being obscured, we fail to comprehend the living Word of God. Jesus is the living word!
John 1:5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
The world is full of the chaos and wickedness that manifest in the very forms of sin. Just turn on the news today to witness it. Although God, the Creator of the world, has bestowed upon us His Word as the eternal, true light, we are blinded by sin and have and followed the darkness, unable to see or comprehend. Yet, through Jesus, God has opened our hearts and eyes, enabling us to believe in and fix our gaze upon Jesus who is the Light-and granting us liberation from sin; this is the boundless love and grace of God. It is He who enables us to believe in Jesus Christ the true light to repent, and to gain the wisdom that leads to salvation; it is His mercy and compassion that are poured out for our sake. Jesus the true light characterized by humility, gentleness, love, and devotion, who willingly offered His obedience to God.
Let us pray without ceasing, that our eyes maybe opened to behold this Light, that we may walk in it; and be made wise unto salvation, by faith in Jesus Christ. Lord, please have mercy on us. Jesus is the true Light full of knowledge, integrity, intelligent, willing to be in subjection to God.
John 1:6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. (John the Baptist)
John goes on to tell us that there was sent one man sent to bear witness of Jesus Christ prior to his appearance who would end up baptizing Jesus in the Jordan River. Before Jesus’ temptation in the wilderness. His name was John the Baptist
John 1:7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
In order for men to get out of the darkness of this world, we see here that we must believe in Jesus, and that John was a witness of Jesus. By His Spirit and grace, God enlightens all that accept salvation; and those that are not enlightened by God, will perish in darkness. Jesus is the Light!
John 1:8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
With clarity we are told that John the Baptist was not the light, but he bared witness to he Light. Jesus is the Light!
John 1:9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
He promises to shine His light upon us. Do you desire to receive that light? If you entrust the entire direction of your life to Jesus, He will-through His Word and by the power of the Holy Spirit watch over us as the apple of His eye and illuminate our path. Furthermore, even when we are plunged into fear and despair by the towering mountains and treacherous cliffs of life, Jesus who knows our circumstances in advance will shield us from danger and care for us. When we face dead ends, He will guide us in a new direction; He will never burden us with difficulties beyond our capacity to bear, and should we ever feel overwhelmed, He will provide a way of escape for He is the true Light of our lives. Therefore, rather than yielding to disappointment, I urge you to remain steadfast in prayer and to give thanks with patient endurance, resting in the hope that Jesus has bestowed upon us.
Do not attempt to resolve your difficult problems alone; instead, entrust them to the Lord. If, however, you choose not to do so, then you must realize that the burden of resolving those struggles and enduring that suffering falls entirely upon your own shoulders.
John tells us that Jesus is the true light, and he lighteth every man in the world if we allow him too. Don’t you want to be enlightened? He will enlighten you with his word if you allow him to take full control of your life. Jesus will change it.
John 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
John 1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
This is a profoundly deep passage. It declares that Jesus created the world a fact we already know from the Book of Genesis: “In the beginning, God created.” Therefore, we can recognize that Jesus is God. We also know that Jesus was rejected by His own people the Jews. Consequently, we understand that the Jews rejected God. In this regard, we are no different from the unbelieving Jews; even though we know that Jesus was crucified for our sake, we often fail to believe and instead reject Him much in the same way that we, as believers navigating through this world, may face rejection from friends, family members, or society at large.
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
We are the recipients of grace those who ought to offer praise and shout out to God. Our Jesus the only One truly worthy to receive all glory and honor through his sacrifice on the cross for the salvation of the world He accomplished. For if we have welcomed Jesus into our lives, we shall surely receive His power. This is precisely the authority possessed by those who believe the divine power and authority that enables us to become children of the one true God and heirs with Jesus. Do you believe it? Our power comes from the Light. Our Jesus is the Light!
Ephesians 5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
If we are now the children of Light and are no more in darkness, we need to act like it and follow the word and commandments of God. Ultimately, God has given us the way to return to Him through Jesus; therefore, we need only follow those instructions. Jesus is the Light!
Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Some of us must allow God’s Word to illuminate our path, ensuring that we remain steadfast on the way He has chosen for us. Others among us must shine the light of Jesus upon those whose feet wander in darkness. Those who stumble and fall into difficulties and sin. Do not encourage them to remain children of darkness but encourage them to follow the light of Jesus. Those with ears to obey will hear; those with eyes to obey will see. Ultimately, all of this is a matter of personal choice. Furthermore, those who believe must guard against pride; they must not attempt to out pace the Light itself but rather lead lives that serve as examples to all. With humility and gentleness, they must shine the light of the Gospel for the sake of the weak and those ensnared by sin, helping them emerge from the darkness and ensuring they do not stumble or lose their way. Let the word light the way and proceed when God says so! Amen. Jesus is the Light!
John 1:4, 7, 9 Each of these three verses could suggest that all people will be saved. However, verses 5, 10, and 11 all make it clear that not everyone accepted Jesus. So, salvation is available for all people through Jesus, it is not automatically applied to all people it requires all to believe and ask for it and obedient.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Amen!
Do you want the light in your life? Let Jesus shine through you. Do you want the life that God has chosen for you? Today is the day! Now is the time. Yield to Light of Jesus!
