Jesus has risen from the dead!” — “Victory in Jesus!” This is a truly beautiful hymn that our congregation sings with great vigor on Sundays. Today—Easter Sunday—marks the day when God granted Jesus the ultimate triumph. It is a day on which God bestowed His grace upon us, raising Jesus—the source of supreme joy for all humanity—to life, having conquered the dominion of death.
Furthermore, this very day signifies that, through Jesus, the lives and believers are transformed; we receive the forgiveness of sins and attained salvation, experiencing joy and victory. Thus, right here and now—at this very moment you should dedicate yourself to giving glory to God—we, as believers, must offer our thanksgiving and praise to the risen Jesus for His power and victory!
We enjoy singing the song, “This is the day” in our church, its our theme song. So, as we begin our Easter celebration, I would like to say this about Jesus’ resurrection day!
It brings me true joy and gratitude when our congregation sings our first hymn of every Sunday-“This Is the Day the Lord Has Made”-together in unison. Today, as we celebrate our Easter / Resurrection Day, I wish to proclaim that the resurrection of Jesus Christ stands as the ultimate fulfillment of the astonishing love and grace that God has bestowed upon all of humanity!
This is the day on which God, through Jesus’ obedience on the cross, demonstrated His power over both death and resurrection. It is also the day the Lord arose again from the dead, thereby conquering the power of the grave. Furthermore, this is the day Jesus Himself personally and completely washed away every sin of the world God created. It is a day for us to commemorate the Lord’s meritorious work with glory and praise. It is a day for us to offer ourselves as living sacrifices, coming before Jesus to worship Him wholeheartedly; a day to learn and gain understanding from His Word; a day to receive His mercy; and a day to repent before Jesus, who shed His blood for our sake. Today-this very day-it must be the day the precious merit of the Cross transforms our life. Now-at this very moment-is the time to cast off the heavy burden of sin and to embrace the eternal life that God the Father grants to all who believe in His only begotten Son. This day–the day of Jesus’ resurrection, which God has graciously bestowed upon us—is the greatest of days, a day of supreme joy for all the saints who serve Him with gratitude. Amen!
There is another song that comes to mind on this Easter / Resurrection celebration day.
“Victory in Jesus” what a wonderful song we sing from time to time in church. We also need to claim this victory in our lives.
I heard an old, old story, how a Savior came from glory,
How He gave His life on Calvary to save a wretch like me;
I heard about His groaning, of His precious blood’s atoning,
Then I repented of my sins and won the victory
Mathew gives a vivid description of what my Lord and Savior Jesus went through after the Pharisees, Sadducees and Jewish leaders placed Him in an illegal trial. We in our mind’s cannot comprehend what Jesus endured for the sins of you, me and the whole world. What humility, derogation what shame they put him through.
Matthew 27:28 And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe.
Matthew 27:29 And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!
Matthew 27:30 And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head.
Matthew 27:31 And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.
Matthew 27:33 And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull.
My Lord and Savior was nailed to a cruel cross and placed between two thieves what disrespect and dishonor to our Lord and God.
No wonder why Jesus said, “Father forgive them for they know not what they do”! Even in His suffering at the hands of His created beings, He had compassion for them. Interceding on behalf of all those sinners. Our God is good to all who will seek His face.
On Easter morning, the women discovered a truly profound—indeed, an indescribable and monumental—truth. It was a truth born solely of God’s divine prophecy and intervention: an astonishing miracle—accomplished by the Creator God, for whom nothing is impossible—that atoned for the sins of all humanity in a manner that defies both human comprehension and explanation, thereby bringing the prophecies of the Scriptures to actual fulfillment.
Matthew 28:1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
Matthew 28:2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
Matthew 28:3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:
Matthew 28:4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.
Matthew 28:5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
Matthew 28:6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
Matthew 28:7 And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.
Matthew 28:8 And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.
Matthew 28:9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.
Matthew 28:10 Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.
Hallelujah! He has risen! Jesus has overcome the death and the world! Amen! We can now celebrate with Him over this. If we fully trust, follow, and obey Him. Jesus will give to us this same victory over death and the world. Even in all our world circumstances and trials we will gain victory in Jesus!
I heard about His healing, of His cleansing pow’r revealing
How He made the lame to walk again and caused the blind to see;
And then I cried, “Dear Jesus, come and heal my broken spirit,”
And some sweet day I’ll sing up there the song of victory.
This is our true reality. We are the ones who live as cripples, unable to maintain our physical balance as we struggle under the crushing weight of heavy sins; we are the blind ones who, because of sin, can no longer distinguish between good and evil. Jesus—He who came for the sake of all these things! Every day, we pray: “Jesus, help us to love You more deeply, and please heal our broken bodies and souls.” And I cried out: “Beloved Jesus, come and heal my wounded soul.” Someday, in Heaven, we will sing a song of victory.
The only way for us to attain this victory is through true repentance and the confession of our sins—the very sins for which our Lord and Savior laid down His life to secure our forgiveness. Jesus is the only way that we may gain this victory he said by our mouth repentance and confession are made for our sins.
Don’t you all want victory and forgiveness in your life, there is only one way to get it. Jesus said: “I am the way the truth and the life and no one comes to the Father but by me”.
Knowing what Jesus did for me on the cross of Calvary and all he endured for my salvation. We should come willingly and surrender our lives as Jesus did for us. We never hear about Jesus being stubborn or rebellious, do we? No! We are the ones that do this most of the time. Jesus gave us a simple plan of salvation, to be saved.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Amen!
Just a belief. Can you do that? He is waiting for you.
O victory in Jesus, my Savior, forever!
He sought me and bought me with His redeeming blood;
He loved me ere I knew Him, and all my love is due Him.
He plunged me to victory beneath the cleansing flood.
