So, often in our lives we fall down in our life’s journey partly because we may not understand Gods word or instructions to us. What I am talking about here is our belief that the word of God is the true word of God and not the word of men. Yes, the word of God was written by men but divinely inspired by the Holy Spirit We must hold fast to this later statement. It is not the words of men it is the word of God given to men to write down. At any time, we may fall down. But, when we hold fast to the Word of God it will renew our strength in God and give us the power to overcome Satan’s attacks on our lives. When we know the word of God, we can see the attack coming ahead and know who is doing it.
Our personal commitment is an ability to live up to your own standards and intentions. This also implies that you meet social commitments to others such as promises and pledges of loyalty are made. “Commitment” means a dedicated and unwavering dedication to a person, cause, or goal. (principles that we must keep and practice as people). When we walk in God’s accuracy and truth, we follow the laws and principles of the word, and we can also become a model in society, and fulfill our given duties with honesty and sincerity, to take care of our families, and follow the order of life well, then our country, our family, and our church can welcome us with joy through our dedication, loyalty, and devotion to His work.
When we got saved, we made a personal commitment to God, we would follow him no matter what… then a few short days later we were attacked by Satan and wound up in our old spot again. Did He say it was going to be easy? No! We must not forget God’s mercy, compassion, and grace, and when we follow God, we are blessed to devote ourselves, commit ourselves, and serve Him to the best of our ability. God keeps the record of our service. My hope is you will joyfully commit yourself to God’s loving words. God will only give to you what you can handle.
An example of a personal commitment we can show in life is to commit one’s selves to work or a job. To others a marriage is definitely a commitment. Which is great as long as it does not take you away from God and God’s Word. Obedience is the best thing that does not make us stray from God and God’s words, and it makes us joyfully commit ourselves to life with abundance. There are still some and still some foolishly will commit themselves to Satan. We cannot serve two masters (God & Satan), and we have no choice in where we will go to heaven or hell. If we miss out on going to heaven through Jesus, we will be worse off than never having been born in this world.
Jeremiah 2:13 For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.
Yes, Jeremiah is speaking to Israel people when he says, my people have forgotten their Creator & God. You know God is that fountain of living water that we can drink from daily. Just as we have forgotten the living word of God that is our water. Yet there were some that worked all day in laborer to hew out water vessels but, to no end because they would hold no water. To hew is to cut, carve, shape, fashion, form, chip, hammer, or chisel material. Who wants a vessel that leaks water? They were wasting their time.
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
For those who think they are perfect in every way we clearly see that there are None, righteous, not even one. No one is worthy, not even those who have been extremely successful in life. We still fall short and are unworthy.
We fall short when we do not have the commitment to God’s word we should. We should allow it to change our thoughts and the way we walk in life. Hear it, apply it and change it. Whatever it is that is hindering you from doing God’s will in your life.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
When we serve God and commit ourselves, the reward that God gives us is the birth of Jesus. The equal gift given to all people in this world, the birth of Jesus, anyone who believes receives the reward of salvation from God. It is natural that we should pay the price of eternal life but because of our sins, it keeps us away from God. However, God’s love sent Jesus to pay the price for that sin!
When we work a job, we work for wages and that is our reward. However, think of it you’re working that sin only to be rewarded with eternal death. But when you work for Jesus, you will be rewarded with everlasting life. That is definitely the better deal.
Psalms 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
Sometimes the Lord ask us to be still and wait to see the results God wants us to have in our lives. So that we can testify to what he has done for us and give him the Glory and honor He deserves. This could be the answer to our prayer. I quietly rely on the Lord with all your heart and soul and to obey with faith and hope, and perseverance.
We should be even more thankful that God forgave Saul, who persecuted and slaughtered those who believed in our God and committed all kinds of atrocities, and established him as a preacher of the gospel to the Gentiles, transformed the Gentiles, and gave his life to exalt Jesus Christ, and that he was called the Apostle Paul.
Our God is to be exalted amongst the heathen of this world in order to have them change and we can see their change and we can praise Him for it. Our God will be exalted in all the earth.
Psalms 37:5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
We all have to trust the Lord for all he has done for us already. We need to trust his word for what it says we can do and lean not on our understanding of it but Gods. We need to commit thy way unto the LORD. It is because His covenant is unfailing. When we do this we will be rewarded handsomely.
Proverbs 16:3 Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.
Commit thy works-Your work you have done for Him when we do this, we will have complete thoughts, and clarity. You will find that the Word of God becomes easiest to read and retain. When we move forward with firm faith in the covenant of God’s word, the Lord will bear everything we cannot do, including illness, pain, sorrow, suffering, and sin, and say, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” In this New Year, my hope for you to entrust all your work to the Lord and rely on Him, and to participate in the promises He has made.
Only with God’s power can we overcome the power of Satan. We need to be armed with the word, meditate, pray, and have fellowship with the saints, and to pray with them, encourage, help, and give strength when times are difficult, when we are tired, when we are lonely, and when we are sad. My hope is to become a Riverview Church, which is strong gives strength.
2Timothy 1:12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
Timothy trusted and was not ashamed to give out the gospel message and he ended up Paul’s understudy. Just listen to the words. “I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.”
I am not ashamed- We should never be ashamed to give out or to share God’s word with anyone anywhere God has designed it that way.
If we all believe like Timothy, what a power force we become in this evil world and think of the accomplishments we could have for our God. When we have a firm faith, obey, and commit ourselves, when we preach the gospel and commit ourselves for the church, we pray with joy and gratitude, and in grace, and I hope that we will take the lead in the gospel this year with the power given to us, and become children that the Lord desires.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
