Most Christian have questions about the trinity? Even the disciples had questions and they were in the presence of Jesus. In the 14th Chapter of John we see Thomas, Philip, and Judas (Thaddaeus son of James),are questioning Jesus. They want to know where he is going. Jesus was trying to tell them that he was about to be crucified on a cross and go to God the Father in heaven.
The Trinity = a word not found in Scripture, but used to express the Christian doctrine that God exists as one being in three distinct persons: the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit. The Trinity is considered as a divine mystery beyond human comprehension to be reflected upon only through scriptural revelation. A Triune God!
Father – the Creator and sustainer of the universe.
Son – Jesus Christ, who became human (the Incarnation) to save humanity.
Holy Spirit – God’s active presence and power in the world today and in the lives of Christian believers.
The Book of John tell us about the deity of Christ. John also allowed Jesus’ own words to teach us “and I and my Father are one”.
John 1:1-2 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God.
1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
Jesus taught the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The word Trinity is not mentioned per say but Jesus does tell us of this Trinity. Jesus tell us he came to do the will of his Father who sent him. he also said The Father would send the Comforter, (Helper, Advocate, Comforter, Counselor, Collaborator) in His name to be with us in Spirit.
2 Corinthians 13:14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.
This verse is here and it is a closing greeting written by Pual to the Corinthians as he closed out his letters to them, wishing they fully experience the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Triune God.
John 14:22 Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?
Disciple Judas (Thaddaeus son of James),asking Jesus why he made himself known to them but not the whole world?
It was God will. Jesus came to do the will of His Father not Himself. Jesus taught the Disciples so that they could teach others about God and God’s word. Jesus makes himself known to those who are love him and are obedient to the word and those who seek to do his will.
John 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
Jesus will make himself known to those who love him. Jesus will make himself known to those who keep my words. My Father will love those who are obedient to the word and those who seek to do his will. We will come unto those who are obedient to the word and those who seek to do his will. And make our abode with those who are obedient to the word and those who seek to do his will. Furthermore, we must establish our dwelling place and strive to gather together with those who obey the Word and those who earnestly seek to carry out the Father’s will.
John 14:24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.
If we don’t love the Lord Jesus and keep not His sayings he cannot help us. For the word Jesus gave to us came from God the Father it is not Jesus Word alone. Jesus Himself told them the word he is giving is not his own but God’s who sent him to them for it to be revealed to man. Those who chose not to follow will bring trial and tribulation into their lives You will invite trials and tribulations into your life, and at the end of your days, you will enter not into Heaven, but into a horrific Hell..
John 14:25 These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.
Jesus said, I told you while I am with you that I was to reveal the Father in Heaven to you.
Jesus said, “I am come to do the will of my Father”. “I have been sent by my Father”. “I came to seek and save that which was lost”.
John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Jesus said, the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost my Father will send in Jesus name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, which Jesus had already taught them while with them. He is ever presence in our lives if we are obedient to God’ s word.
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Jesus said, “I have come to give you peace. When you believe in Me and obey Me, I grant you this peace; and through the peace I have given, you must love, cherish, and understand one another. You must bear one another’s burdens and offer encouragement, living in obedience to the precious words I have taught you. Through this peace—the gift I have bestowed—you will find not anxiety or worry, but true tranquility and rest; and you will become people who give thanks to one another with joy. If you do this, you will no longer be plagued by fear or restlessness. Whether in your home, at your workplace, within the church, or in society at large, you will dwell together in harmony. Therefore, I urge you: turn away from evil and wicked thoughts, and instead, live in obedience to Me, sharing peace and tranquility with one another.”
Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. But we can have comfort knowing what Jesus did for us, and what God desire us to do. Why, because God is in control, and he will give to us understanding of all things to those who are obedient to the word and those who seek to do his will. Sometimes when life is overwhelming we need to call out to God to Help us with our situations. God hears the prater or the faithful. Our hearts should not be troubled nor afraid for the Holy Spirit is with us.
John 14:28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.
Jesus said, I go away, to God the Father and come again unto you for you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, with Jesus. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, with Jesus because I said, I go unto the Father. We should rejoice, with Jesus because My Father is greater than I.
John 14:29 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.
Jesus said, I have told you before this is to happen what will come here after.. A revelation for the disciples and us of what will come to pass.. this is amazing that he would give them these things, why because he knew they were all seeking signs of what will be. Jesus also said it is for our sake that he did this to help us believe in God the Father, Jesus the Son , and the Holy Spirit. He revealed our Jesus—the One who would bear the sins of humanity and be crucified on the cross. Amen!
John 14:30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.
Jesus said, After this I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh.
I will not talk much with you: We will have limited conversations – matter fact so limited we have to do it through prayer. Pray more worry less. Entrust all your worldly cares and worries to Jesus in prayer. I hope you will pray without ceasing—striving earnestly in prayer whether in good times or difficult ones—for prayer guides us along the path of life. Why?
1, Jesus is not here he is seated at the right hand of the God Father.
2, God has left the Holy Spirit in Jesus name here to comfort us.
3, For the prince of this world is here in this present world roaming around seeking whom he may devour. God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit can not be in the same place as the evil one call Satan. Satan and one third of the fallen angels are loose for a season seeking whom they may devour. There purpose is to take as many of Gods created beings as will follow them to hell with them. They don’t want to be alone in hell.
Jesus came to do the will of the so the world may know God the Father. This is evident in his obedience to God the Father, He did not rebel against that will He willingly laid his life down for the Sin of all the world past, present, and future sin. Jesus followed the commandments given to him by God. We pray that you, too, will become saints who believe, rely, and obey, and that you follow the will of the Holy Spirit.
I and my Father are one Amen.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Amen!
