Let us rejoice today in the profound redemption secured through the precious blood of Jesus Christ upon the cross. This magnificent salvation is ours solely by the unmerited grace of God. We serve an all-powerful, majestic Creator whose glory we must forever remember. Amen!
We need to understand what, where, Jesus came from. John W Peterson wrote a song called What Grace Is This! The words to this song are sprinkled throughout my sermon today.
Jesus came from those bright and splendor filled palaces of heaven’s glory, He down to earth for us. Here came this King, to bring to world new life and light.
What grace is this that brought my Savior down, that made him leave His glorious throne and crown. The creator who made the earth, the sky, the sea, the stars, and the planets in every galaxy. Wow!
What condescension? How can it be? How, could men and women of God’s own creation treat Jesus as though He was of less intelligent or important than they were.
What shame Jesus suffered for us. What agony he endured. The death He died for sinners as He was crucified. What Grace Is This! What Grace Is This!
Ephesians 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins.
We all are a living corpse: without the gracious presence of God’s Spirit in the soul. So, we are unable to think or do the will of God that which is holy. The state of which we are in as the unbeliever is, and through which is dead to the true life.
Sin is the death of the soul. We are dead (spiritually). We have alienated our selves from the life of God and with God.
When we translate, as Greek, in your trespasses, Trespass in Greek, expresses a fall or lapse, such as the transgression of Adam whereby he fell into sin and blamed Eve “The woman you gave me Lord.” And he also fell from God’s grace.
Ephesians 2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
Satan the prince of this world was cast out of heaven with his demons by God. Where he had been heretofore the accuser of the brethren. Now no longer able to accuse in heaven those justified by Christ. However, he is still the accuser of the brethren on earth. But he has no victory here unless we give up valuable and precious territory to him.
Ephesians 2:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
Satan is seeking those whom he may devour, he wants us to desire things that will keep us separated from God. Those things that are totally keeping us at a distance from God. Sometimes we fall into the trap and then when we realize that we have lost the blessings of God we feel we cannot return to our Holy God. This is not the case we can always return. No matter how far away we have gone Jesus always invites us back. Our way of life, will reflect our walk in this world and we should acknowledge God the Father, and Jesus the Son for all they have done to save us from our sins. Amen!
Ephesians 2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
Our God has unlimited riches, mercy great love for his own that believe and serve Him. in God’s grace to a fallen race. Tis an infinite supply. This is why He desire to have all come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
When we were dead in sins, and trespasses God has quickened us together with Christ. By Gods grace we are saved even when we were dead in our trespasses and sins, He loved us because He knew us. God knew who would be saved.
Ephesians 2:6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
God is the only one who can raise us to the levels where the heavenly abode of God is and where the Angelic host are present and serve the Lord our God on His throne. He also mentioned being seated together. We all are united to Christ, and one with Him in one spirit and one mind.
Ephesians 2:7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
The boundless grace of God is greater than all the sin of man and it is freely out poured toward us. All this was seen in Jesus our Lord and Savior throughout all the ages it has been here for all to see.
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
It is by God’s grace that we are saved, through our faith in Him, not by ourselves alone but by the grace of God He has revealed to us His word, we can believe and become saved. That is a true gift from God.
Ephesians 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
We absolutely have no room to boast about anything because God made it all to include men and women and everything you have seen and not seen. We could never work enough for what God has provided to his own people.
Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
We are all created in the image of God, we were all made by Him for His good pleasure not our own but God’s. We are here to fulfill the will of God only. Here we can clearly see that God fore ordained us to walk according to His will not ours. So, we should do it. For the sake of Jesus who paid the price for all the debts we owe we must become worshippers, those who obey His Word, those who dedicate themselves through thanksgiving and prayer, and those who repent. Amen!
Ephesians 6:24 Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.
All this shows us the love God has for His people, those people who have accepted, those who are willing, those who will do the will of God, over their own will to get the work of God done here on earth and to spread the Gospel message to all.
Some day we will see our Savior, What a wondrous happy day. What grace is this!
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Amen.
