The spirit of the God, translated as “the Spirit of the Lord’ or ‘the Spirit of Jehovah’ in Bible, signifies the Holy Spirit, which is God’s Holy Spirit. Have you ever wondered about the Seven Spirits before the throne of God? Or the seven Spirits of God possessed by Jesus Christ? Or the seven Spirits of God symbolized by the seven lamps of fire burning before the throne? Here is there meaning.
We know the number of perfection, is seven. So, each one of the spirits is perfect in every way. It also implies that a perfect amount of these spirits were found in Jesus Christ. God wants to us all to have a measure of these Spirits. God desires that we enjoy the fullness of participating in the sevenfold perfect Spirit (salvation through Jesus) when we obey.
Holy Spirit as described in the Bible the “seven spirits of God” most commonly refer to the sevenfold ministry or attributes of the primarily originating from the Old Testament, these spirits represent the perfect, complete nature of the Holy Spirit. The most widely accepted list comes from the Book of Isaiah, which prophesies the attributes of the Spirit that would rest upon the Messiah (Jesus Christ). Of course, these are not seven distinct Spirits, but one Holy Spirit in His seven-fold activity. This passage probably refers to the theocratic anointing that characterized Old Testament figures who led the nation of Israel. Messiah (Jesus Christ) will possess this theocratic anointing in its fullness and perfection: the seven-fold Spirit of God.
Revelation 1:4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;
Revelation 3:1 And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.
Revelation 4:5 And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.
- The Spirit of the Lord: Represents the divine presence and power of God Himself. That is given to each one of us. This the overarching presence and authority of God in our lives. God will also judge and condemn, to wit, their malicious and furious enemies.

- The Spirit of Counsel: The ability to guide others and offer divine direction. Guidance and direction
Once we follow the first two, we then will be able to give others wise counsel from the word of God by applying it to our lives. Help us and them to choose actions that lead to spiritual growth.
- The Spirit of Might: Supernatural strength, power, and courage.
As we continue to follow, we will gain God’s power and strength and with this we can overcome all of life’s issues.
- The Spirit of Knowledge: An intimate awareness of God and His will.
This knowledge is, the perfect knowledge of the whole will and counsel of God, especially that which concerns the salvation of all men and women.
- The Spirit of the Fear of the Lord: Deep reverence, awe, and submission to God.
This is not a fear of diffidence or horror, but of reverence; a care to please him, and a desire to not want to offend him.
Isaiah 11:1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
Jesus Christ was born out of the line of Jesse seed, David the second King of Israel. The Spirit of the Lord would teach all leaders how to lead. The presence of God, wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge and the fear of the Lord. All qualities that will help everyone if we are obedient and follow them.
We need to understand where, and what this holds forth in meaning for us. Jesus just before his ascension left his disciples with the Holy Spirit of God to aid and help men and women with their faith.
It also has other meanings to consider the candlestick in the Old Testaments temple. There are seven candle holders, and it also help the Jewish learn. The menorah (candlestick) conveyed to Jews that Israel itself functioned as a vessel of God’s divine presence, and set people ablaze by God’s spirit yet preserved, called to radiate that light outward to others.
Isaiah 11:2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;
Of course this is speaking of the coming Messiah, Jesus. but Jesus also left to us this Holy Spirit.
Isaiah 11:3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:
As God had, and Jesus had these abilities they have been shared with us if we choose to accept Jesus, and them, to use in our lives to become righteous people.
Quickening = Bringing back to life. We were once dead in our trespasses and sins, now with the Spirit of the Lord we are brought back to life. To life everlasting.
Isaiah 11:4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.
God & Jesus will defend and deliver the poor because human judges commonly neglect and oppress the poor. It also shows us that justice of these Judges God & Jesus will occur. God will also judge and condemn, to wit, their malicious and furious enemies. Furthermore, without the work of the Holy Spirit, we cannot know God’s plan or understand the meaning of the precious blood shed on the cross. We must seek the illumination of the Holy Spirit. God’s providence toward the world and toward us is perfectly good.
