We have learned about Hope, Joy, Love, already, let’s learn about The Prince is born.
The Prince is Born Foretold by prophet Isaiah
Last week we learned about the Love of God from Isaiah. Jesus was called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace, and Emmanuel, God with Us!
We also discussed that God Is the Father, and the Father is the King, the Son Jesus is the prince, for the son of a King is the prince. The King sent His Son (Jesus) the prince, into this world to save us all from our sins. This was a clear message of the arrival of a Prince of the King.
Our Bible story begins in the city of David, which is called Bethlehem. (House of bread) Jesus is the bread of life. Luke tells us Mary and Joseph traveled there to be counted for a tax by a decree from Caesar Augustus. Seems everyone was busy reporting for the decree. Too busy paying attention to what was going on around them.
Just like today seems everyone busy with their life. Too busy paying attention to what was going on around them.
Luke 2:7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
And she (Mary) brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger.
Manger= food trough for animals
This is God plan. No Room? No Money? God sent his son to cover the responsibility for humanities sin in the world He created.
The image of the baby Jesus being placed in a manger? The Love of God’s a gift to this world. A gift is not a gift unless you accept it. This is what the world did with the gift God gave them. They despised Him rejected him and crucified Him tried to kil him several times. They did not even have room for the Prince to stay.
Seems as if they did not want this gift.
No Room for The Prince
Because there was no room for them in the inn -The Prince the King’s son, had no room in the inn. No room for The Prince of Peace! So, humbly Mary would lay The Christ Child in a manger. Among the animals in the stable that glorious evening.
The arrival of The Prince had found no room in the inn. You see, The Prince the King’s son. Was none other than The Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ the son of the Living God.
Wait wait… This Prince the King’s son, was The Prince of Peace Jesus Christ the son of the Living God, was also this worlds creator, and this world had no room to spare for Him in the inn and his mother placed him in a food trough next to animals. What shame on the world for not treating The Prince of Peace Jesus Christ with such an improper response. How could this happen?
Royalty would have never been treated this way. And if they were the mistreatment would be dealt with swiftly. So, that it would not happen again. We find he came into this world in a very humble fashion.
At the same time……
The Prince Announced
Luke 2:8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
Shepherds abiding in the field- in their place doing their duty. (Pastors duty)
Keeping watch over their flock by night- their duty was to watch over their flocks to make sure no harm came to them at night. (Rightly dividing the word of the Lord so the flock has tools to fight with) Thieves, wolves, and Satan come out at night. Knowing the word of God can help us identify those Thieves, wolves, and Satan, when they attack.
Luke 2:9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
The angel of the Lord- An angel is a heavenly being made to help the Lord God around his throne, and they are God’s messengers and come to deliver messages. They communicate with us. Just as they did on this wonderful evening.
The glory of the Lord shone round about them-Bright brilliant and blinding light. Disruptions to the workflow divert or delay the plans.
Shepherds were sore afraid-You too would be afraid if you saw a bright light in the middle of the desert when you were not expecting it. Or at least be startled. We must remember they were doing their duty.
Luke 2:10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
The angel said unto them – “The message” covers the next three verses
Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
Luke 2:11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
These are good tidings of great joy; a child is born among us.
Luke 2:12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
This shall be a sign unto you- they would find a baby this shall be a sign unto you. What would be the likely hood of this occurring as angels detailed it. Coincidence I don’t think so. Why do we seek a sign to know that God did something for us.
Luke 2:13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Luke 2:14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
Angels in Chorus-Angelic host proclaiming the Saviors birth in a heavenly anthem filled with glory, honor, and praise.
Music-Normally music would play when royalty enters, this is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords Jesus the Christ Child came to redeem us all.
Song-A song herald out Glory to God in the highest. On earth peace, good will toward men. Jesus the only one worthy of all praise honor and glory. Amen!
Luke 2:15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
As the angels were gone away from them into heaven- They returned to heaven because the message was delivered.
The shepherds said one to another, let us now go –To Bethlehem, and see this thing.
Which the Lord hath made known unto us- They knew the Lord God of heaven shared this information with them. They were chosen out of all shepherds to witness this glorious sight; how could they not tell or speak of their experience.
Luke 2:16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.
The shepherds –Came with haste, they found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. Yet another experience as they were told about by the angels occurring before them. How could they not tell or speak of their experiences.
How can we not tell or speak of our experiences.
Mary and Joseph –They too were chosen to carry out this task for the entire world. They too knew the Lord God of heaven shared this information with them. They too were visited by angels and were given messages from God.
The baby is lying in a manger. – This is incomprehensible, and extremely hard to believe, and grasp. The Savior of all mankind had no room, the guest was expected, that no one planned for his arrival no one provided a room for Him, and He was placed in a food trough for animals. Wrapped in swaddling clothes. Can you just imagine the smell, of the stall, the left-over slop, that lined the troth, where Jesus was laid. Just like the sin of all men /women of the world. Our King, Our Lord, and Our Savior. This
The Arrival of The Prince Spread Abroad
Luke 2:17 And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.
The shepherds –left with haste to make known abroad the saying which was told to them concerning this child. These chosen shepherds became the witness of making sure this was told abroad.
I told you earlier, A gift is not a gift unless you accept it. Will you accept the gift of Jesus Christ the Prince of Peace the Savior of all. If you accept? Will you tell the world about your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ?
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
When we are cleansed of our sins we are at peace with the world and our God. He also brought peace into the world as men and women begin to forgive one another after their conversion. His Gospel message is a message of peace.
Merry Christmas! Not happy holidays.
