When you go into the house of God do you make yourself ready to worship your Lord Savior Jesus Christ in spirit and in truth?
God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit of the Lord are all spirit, and we need to worship them as they have instructed us to do. When we go to the house of God we are coming into the presence of a Holy God. We come to worship God in spirit and in truth. We should also hold the house of God in high esteem. It requires us approaching with reverence, preparation, and a focused heart, often described as “guarding your steps”. It is a time for humble worship, listening rather than offering the “sacrifice of fools,” and engaging in joyful fellowship together. This is a humble worship, and He said He would not accept the “offerings of fools.” We learned that before offering sacrifices, we must first reconcile and then worship together. Otherwise, an unreconciled heart will continue to be filled with discord, evil, and pride, disrupting the order and spirit of the God’s Holy temple.
Ecclesiastes 5:1 Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.
Do not take God house and His worship lightly God always serious about His work. God is the Creator, the Almighty and Omniscient One of dignity and glory, omnipresent everywhere in the world, seeing and hearing all.
Keep thy foot -We need to be awaked from our sleep and be aware of our walk with the Lord because God is watching us and the world is watching us and we are ambassadors for Christ. Watching one’s steps, while approaching with humility, and coming in with a clean and open heart, is similar to Moses removing his shoes on Holy ground. We must be humble before God, open your ears and be ready to hear the word of God and allow it to enter the open mind to meditated on and then hiding it in one’s heart to be recalled as needed in life. Selah! Let the word of God become strength and encouragement in life, and become one who gives thanks in all circumstances, drawing strength from the word of truth when needed. Those who do not hear God’s word are not His children; instead, tempted by Satan, they are drawn deeper into sin, fostering strife and evil. The consequences of sin fall upon oneself and harm even those nearby. Shame!
Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
You hear with open ears.
Ecclesiastes 5:2 Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.
Be not rash with thy mouth –We need to be careful with our talk amongst brothers and sisters. We must abandon evil words filled with falsehood, slander, jealousy, and pride without cause. We believers call each other brothers and sisters, a term of great closeness used in fellowship within the Lord. Furthermore, as we are precious and honored ones who dwell together in heaven, we must cherish and give thanks for the fellowship of saints in God’s holy temple.
In every way, do not plot evil; instead, strive to be those who encourage one another, bring peace, and love in fellowship.
Hatred and slander among brothers and sisters can deceive and lead into temptation through falsehood and strife. Our tongue is a fiery little thing and can burn down a forest if we are not careful. Do not become someone who, through pride, falsehood, sin, and complaint, causes discomfort to those beside you and leads God’s house into chaos. Do not blame God for anything! Man brought sin into the paradise God created. God is in charge.
James 3:8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
No one can control their tongue, for once words are spoken, they cannot be taken back or erased. They become poison, hardening the heart and leading to sin. The only cure for such a heart is prayer within the Word and repentance. And through repentance comes reconciliation. “God keeps the records and knows all things.”
It says no man can tame the tongue, we can not do it with out God help or intervention. There is no reason anyone should spread their poison to others or to make the church congregation sick with envy strife and jealousy. It says it is deadly, and no one wants to cause the sin of leading your brother or sister astray and falling into the pit together.
The House of God
The first mention of the House of God is in Genesis 28 where Jacob is dreaming, and he saw a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven, and the angels of God ascending and descending on it.
Genesis 28:12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.
The angels of God ascending and descending on it – These none other than the the angels of God ascending and descending with the prayers of the saints and people of the Lord, and the answers from God Himself to man. Yes, no, maybe, and wait. Every time angels are mentioned they are messengers.
Genesis 28:13 And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;
Genesis 28:16 And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not.
God’s people and His saints need to know that the House of God is where you go to meet personally with God to receive messages from God. Jacob says he did not know he was in the midst of God. Some of us are like that when we come to Church. Some of us are also part of the group who come to church without realizing it’s to meet with God.
Genesis 28:17 And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.
Jacob had deceived his father and his brother. Now Jacob became fearful when he realizes God saw it. God was with him the whole time even when he deceived his father and his brother and then blessed him, his life, and his descendant’s lives despite is deception. Jacob confesses that God is my comfort and strength. Here, what is most important is that sin drives us away from God. Yet when we recognize our sin and truly repent, God bestows His amazing grace. May you become one who loves and obeys this God of grace—who, through His unchanging love, bestows grace upon the unworthy. No one is perfect. Only repentance makes one righteous, and those who reconcile after repentance gain freedom.
Jacob goes on to describes the House of God, and this is the gate of heaven this would be that gate way that I showed you a few weeks back. A gate takes you from one reality to another reality (heaven & hell) the reality through decision that you make..…
You know when I go from the front yard to the back yard I go through a gate that needs to be opened. When I step through the gate it changes my reality. God made us a way back to a Holy God we must all go through the gate to get there. We find the gate in the hose of God. We will transition from this world earth to heaven from one reality to another reality.
An Open-Heaven is God’s divine purpose. God desire all to be saved. So Heaven must be open for us and so our salvation will open and allow us to enter in. Or our belief in Jesus Christ will open it for us but we must repent and confess first.
Genesis 28:19 And he called the name of that place Bethel: but the name of that city was called Luz at the first.
Bethel = The House of God where Jacob met with God.
God’s House is place where God speaks to his people. A place where angels come and go. I tell you God’s House is positioned on the edge of two worlds or two realities, earth, and heaven. When we go to the House of God and pray and worship to God it goes through the open gate between the House of God and into the Heavenly the Abode of God. The house of God is a Holy place and should be respected and revered by all who enter in. God’s house on earth can be an altar, a tabernacle, a temple, a synagogue, or a church.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Amen.
