The ministry of the Church of God is to get the gospel message out to all who will hear it. To encourage those who hear it to open their ears, eyes, and to open their hearts to be able to hear and see clearly and apply it correctly the word of God to their lives. For those that hear, see and apply must make their own choice to follow or not follow. It is ultimately for their benefit. To know and serve God as the source of life, a Holy God who is worthy of the love, gratitude, and glory of His Creation.
The Body of Christ the Church organizes expeditiously the giving out of the Gospel message to all who come in, and to everyone we can reach through our missionaries’ ministries. As we come together and meet to follow the mission we have been given by our Lord and God, we must understand the fully the Body of Christ and what it is to do. God keeps a record of all that we do. As the Body of Christ, we all need to shed our old nature and cleanse our mind of our own thoughts. The Church is to follow decently and in order, the word of God by being led of God.
God’s word says,
2 Corinthians 4:6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness- God Commanded it.
We need to understand we are in battle to send the light of Gods word into the darkest depths of this present and evil world. We cannot resist Satan’s temptations without God’s Word, so we hold fast to God and to Jesus, who came to die for us and to defend us throughout the ages. As soldiers for the Lord, we must follow the commands, whether we like those commands or not. We are following our Leader God. The reason why, is because we are in battle for life or death. Normally, the commands that are given will save our lives and many others. Also, the Commander has studied the enemy and is prepared for all his tactics.
It hath shined in our hearts– Remember that the light has shown within you first. This Light of hope, light of peace, light of love for one another. Jesus is the light of World.
To give the light of the knowledge- Remember that the Word of God was shown to you from faithful people that love the Lord and where obedient to the call of God and followed the commandments in support of the mission of the Body of Christ.
The glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ- Those faithful obedient people were doing it to the Glory of God and His son Jesus Christ because they were shown mercy and grace from our father God. They had all experienced the salvation of God. We should experience this for ourselves.
2 Corinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
We have this treasure in earthen vessels-Paul is telling us we have a treasure in earthen vessels. The earthen vessel is our body. Have you ever considered that you’re a treasure of God, you’re his creation. Wow, what a creation. The body functions in many wonderful ways. However, let one part of the body not function properly and we begin to decline. This could lead us off our mission.
That the excellency of the power may be of God- Only God could have created our bodies and He is the only one whom can give it life and sustain it. This clearly shows us His power and glory on display, especially knowing He has created us from the dust of the earth. God Has spoken the world into existence, created man from the dust and breathe into him the breath of life and made him a living soul. God has also raised His own son from death. This is clear excellency of His power.
And not of us-It has never been about us (you and me), it has always and forever will be about His power and His glory. Don’t be foolish in our thoughts and actions, not knowing our place, in pride, hindering the role of the body of Christ, and even more so in division; but as servants, be obedient, meek and humble, for we serve a Holy God. The Almighty, God of glory.
2 Corinthians 4:8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
We are troubled on every side-We all have cares, concerns, and circumstances we must overcome, in order to function properly the right way within the Body of Christ. That is in the functioning of the Church. Each one must do their part, we all cannot be the heart, or we all can’t be the lungs. Someone has to be the right hand, someone the left, someone a right foot, and someone the left foot, and so on… From time to time, we will experience growing pains then they will eventually go away. Remember as a teenager those cramps and growing pains when the body changed over time, and you became a man or a woman.
Romans 12:4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:
This is clear we will not all have the same gifts, talents, or position within the body. That’s the beauty that God has accomplished in bringing many different parts together to work and function properly.
Yet not distressed-We need not be distressed over the functioning of the body; we all know the heart must pump the blood throughout the body so that the rest of the body can get the oxygen the rest of the body needs. If I were to take away the heart the body would not live very long. The body would be in deep distress. In all actuality, it would die. This is not the intent of God. If it was, he would have made man and woman with no heart.
We are perplexed- We should not be perplexed in our walk with the Lord Jesus because they rejected Him and we should expect controversy to arise as it did with Jesus. This world does not want to be told that they are doing wrong, and they certainly don’t want to be told they killed the Messiah nor do they believe it.
But not in despair- We should not be in despair; we are certainly not without hope if we are believers of Jesus because of what our Lord and Savior did on the cross at calvary for each one of us. “The Lamb of God, that takes away the sin of the world.”
2 Corinthians 4:9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
Persecuted–Jesus our leader was persecuted for the sin of the entire world, past, present, and future sins and He was willingly obedient to that task given to Him by God the Father. We need to be the same way in order to accomplish His plan for our lives.
But not forsaken-We are not forsaken Jesus and God wants all to be save and come to the knowledge of His salvation
Cast down- We are not to be cast down because Jesus Has won the Victory by His obedience to God the Father
But not destroyed- We are not destroyed because Jesus Has won the Victory and has freed us from the sin of death so, we can function as the Body of Christ He has intended us to until his return. “Bless be the Lord O my soul, my cup is overflow”
We love our Lord Jesus even more!
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Selah! Amen!
