Just like our predecessors before us, we don’t really want to surrender control of anything in our lives. Consider, Israel’s 400 years in Egypt under oppression.
However, God’s word is clear on this matter. We need to realize that the foundation for a Lifetime of Surrender is Jesus Christ. As every believer soon discovers, that initial point of surrender to the Lord Jesus Christ is the change we need in our lives. If we would just surrender to God’s, will we can receive so many blessing from God. But we think we can do it our own will and get by. We will suffer a loss. The Word of God is the source of our lives; living as we ought is utterly impossible relying solely on our own thoughts and strength. Since it is God who gives and takes away life, it is our duty to surrender everything to Him and obey. Through the teachings of the Bible, He guides us, promises the blessing of salvation, and aids us with wisdom and understanding. God’s word says we can’t get by, by ourselves we need God’s help.
Philippians 2:3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
Our first instinct is to fight the second is flight when we feel wronged. Are you ready for this? Only the true love of God is large enough to take in all God’s children, the most unloving and unlovable, and unworthy, and unbearable, and a trying child. If we all vow, absolute surrender to God’s truth, then it must mean absolute surrender to the divine love to fill me; to be a servant of love, is to love every child of God around me. It is called “The fruit of the Spirit is love.”
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
Proverbs 3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
We are proud people and we often think that we are better than everyone else. But the life and way of surrender is trusting in Christ and acknowledging His wisdom and lordship. But how often hate, bitterness, contempt, separation, unlovingness, are caused by the holiest truths of God’s Word! So, down through the ages, the very dearest truths of God’s word have become mountains that have separated us.
Philippians 2:4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
Jesus wants our surrender, not our sufficiency. Think of the Church as a whole. Our families are dysfunctional, our faith is weak, our communication with others has weakened. What divisions among God’s own people! Think of the different groups and bodies. We insist on having our own way. We all hurt one another so easily; this happens because the ego is alive within us. We often think we are valiant for the truth, and we forget God’s commanded us to speak the truth in love. We are all so easily offended.
Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
When we accept Jesus is our personal savior, He will help us with our mindset, time and life is peace and joy. If we want a Lifetime of Surrender to have blessings? We must be obedient and pray, and if we want to expect the Holy Spirit to come down in power, and if we want indeed that God shall pour out His Spirit, we must enter a covenant with God and love him then that we love one another with a heavenly love.
Philippians 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
The only way to experience the fullness of freedom that we have as followers of Jesus is through obedience in His commands. This is the only way to move forward in our journey of understanding and living God’s unique calling on our life.
Philippians 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
Oh, God did something wonderful when He gave Christ, at His right hand, the Holy Spirit to come down out of the heart of the Father and His everlasting love.
How we have degraded the Holy Spirit into a mere power by which we have to do our work! God forgive us. Oh, that the Holy Spirit might be held in honor as a power to fill us with the very life and nature of God and of Christ!
The baptism of love is what the Church needs, and to get that we must begin at once to get down upon our faces before God in confession, and plead:
The more we hold onto hatred, bitterness, and contempt we cause separation among God’s people, and we are separated from our God and His love. We need to surrender our control to Jesus, confess and repent quickly to restore our relationship with our God and others.
Matthew 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
My Prayer to the Lord “Lord, let love from heaven flow down into my heart. I surrender my life completely to You. May eternal love, faith, and patience dwell within me. Let us ask God to baptize you with the Holy Spirit of grace and love and enable us to live a life of prayer and obedience. Help us to be fully yielded to you Lord. As for me, a shepherd who has fully yielded to you Lord. Fill me with the grace of the Holy Spirit and make me an obedient shepherd who pleases God; let me live a life of prayer and spread the Gospel.” Amen.
Love covers all things, cherishes, rejoices, acts with courtesy, and guides with a watchful eye. Love also constantly leads us to repentance.
God fill us with love! Our church’s gospel ministry requires love. May the ministers, missionaries, and believers who proclaim the gospel to this world. As bearers of the Gospel message walk forward with ever deepening your faith and love; may our hearts and steps truly shine as a light, making us beautiful people of obedience.
How beautiful are the feet of those who take the gospel message and give it out. Please surrender your control to Jesus and let him lead you.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Amen.
