Adam & Eve were living in paradise and had a great thing going for themselves until one day when Eve was tempted by the serpent. If you were living in paradise and had a great thing going for yourself, would you let anything tempt you? We all should say no! Eve was tempted by the talking serpent. By the way, this was the first time. None of the other animals talked.
Men’s issue…. Pride, arrogancy, sin of disobedience, and lack of communication and responsibility. (the most important) responsibility. Lets face it men, most of us have failed at our responsibility and duty to God. That is to teach our families God’s word. Spiritual health of spouse & children.
Genesis 2:16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
LORD God commanded the man (Adam). It does not say the Lord commanded Eve. She was not around yet. Genesis 2:20-22
God Said,
Genesis 2:17 But of the tree of the of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Adam and Eve listened (or harkened) to Satan’s lie and the thought entered their mind, then entered their heart, that they could be equal to God or be as gods themselves. This is man’s and woman’s pride, and arrogancy on full display.
It tell us in Genesis 3:6 -7 there eyes would be open and they would knowing good from evil.
The verse where Adam told his wife Eve about the tree of the knowledge of good and evil is not found, but he must have because we see in
Genesis 3:2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
We Eve actually had a conversation with the talking serpent, I would have run the other way or at least called Adam to check it out… The serpent is speaking to me…
We can definitely see there was a lack of communication between man and woman…here. Come on now men, we need to man up and own it!
Women’s issue… She is the weaker vessel according to the Lord. And pride, arrogancy, and sin of disobedience.
Genesis 3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
Her response to Satan. We also see she added to God’s word! Neither shall ye touch it. This was a sin. We should never add to God’s word. This creates confusion and our God is not a God of confusion nor chaos. He is a God of order, peace, and love.
Deuteronomy 12:32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.
This is what God said. “For in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” We can see clearly that it was changed or diminished by the changes.
Physically we will experience death at the end of our lives whenever that maybe, and spiritually we will die due to the sin of disobedience in not following the commandments of God.
Before they would have lived forever with God in the paradise however, they sinned and that changed everything in the world.
Our life in this world, is “the result of our works”, works towards “hell and works towards heaven.” This is our choice and you will choose. Genesis 3:5 says God knows the day that you (ye) will eat thereof, then your eyes would be opened.
After the fall of man God Cursed the earth and said in…
Genesis 3:17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
We look at God’s response: Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife. – Not only his wife but Satan’s lie…
Genesis 3:23 Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
We can see form this that God has punished man for his sin and cursed the creation he made and the paradise he made for man and women, now we are expected to work a lifetime and eat of it the rest of our lives. Now we are required to become worthy of our calling as we perform Our own works. Just as our own salvation must be worked out so must we do our own work and work to show ourselves to be approved.
However, not all of us are farmers, not all of us are ranchers. So, as we go through life, we will either learn these traits or as society has shown us we can barter or trade, or buy from those who have the things which we require. Soloman asked the Lord God for wisdom, and he granted it to him. We find that in all his great wisdom he decided to write these things down for us to read and to make changes in our lives, to hopefully not make the same mistakes as others.
Soloman son of David writes.
Ecclesiastes 3:22 Wherefore I perceive that there is nothing better, than that a man should rejoice in his own works; for that is his portion: for who shall bring him to see what shall be after him?
Be thankful and a cheerful, and have enjoyment of God’s gifts, at the discharge of man’s duties, in his own works. Our own works, and it is Our Duty, are important to the building of character in men or women. Also, if you don’t work, you should not eat!
Each one of us has his portion meaning we have a part to play when we become partakers of the Gospel. Our sense of accomplishment will help us to be thankful, joyful, and graceful when we do our part or complete our portion.
Remember noting greater in this world than for man to rejoice in his own work.
2 Thessalonians 3:10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. Nothing is free except Salvation.
It helps us as we walk through our journey of life, and we have a since of accomplishment when we complete our own works. God’s word tells us to be thankful that we can work, be cheerful when we work, and to have enjoyment when we work. Amen!
Our work environment
How many of us hate the place where we work, and could care less for those we work with? These are negative attitudes and must be reined in and fixed. When we work hard and listen well, we will prosper, and we receive blessings. The joy and happiness of working hard and sharing the harvest with family will flourish in our life, if we will play a role in accumulating heavenly treasures.
As Christian’s we should exercise restraint in letting these feelings be known to our workmates. To be found in fear of God will help us as we work through these feelings and God’s word tells us to pray for our enemies. God watches over us and will lead us if we let him. He will give us the ability to pray for them. This will also increase our spiritual growth and faith. Our own works of spiritual growth and faith.
Our own works should be to follow the instructions of our Lord Jesus is our Salvation and savior. He is dying for our sin.
God have given us. Our own works of obedience is to love one another enough to pray specifically for their needs and to help our neighbor. Lastly, to not get caught up in the evil this world has to offer and work out our own salvation.
Our Almighty God has given us bountiful grace for our own works.
Our God sent his only Son to save all sinners in this world, this includes Adam and Eve! Our God was their in the beginning (past), he is here today (present), and he will be here tomorrow (future) and forever.
Thank you, Lord for your unconditional love expressed to each one of us.
Let us join hands and praise Him together.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Selah Amen!
