Jesus speaking in parables is painting the story or what we would can an analogy. A story with a purpose. When Jesus speaks to us in parables it is for us to have an easier understanding of what He is saying to us. Also to have some receive it quickly. While others remain perplexed. This gives the one that received it quickly an opportunity to tell or teach others what it means. Some of Jesus disciples were fisherman. Jesus wanted to make all of them fishers of men. In other words Jesus wanted them all to catch many men and convert them to believers of Jesus Christ. As many possible. Not to make all fishermen.
Have you ever gone fishing with a fishing net? Let me explain. You have to cast it out into the area where you feel the fish are, then retrieve it, and pull it to the boat and then sort out the fish what are good and what is bad. You see the net when it is cast out it is wide and sweeping. When you draw it back it collects everything in its path. Some good some bad therefore it requires a sorting out of what was collected.
God is the same way all are invited to come all may participate when they come but only those that are good (believe) are kept.
We must understand that Heaven and Hell are real.
Heaven is where all that are saved will go, and there is only one way to get there believe in Jesus. Heaven is where Christian believers will be for eternity.
Hell the other is where all the wicked and unsaved will go to spend eternity. This is fact Jesus spoke about them both. Hell is reserved for those followers of Satan and those whom were devoured by him because of their sinful deeds.
Matthew 13:47 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind:
The kingdom of heaven-God’s abode, where God is. In the presence of God. Why would Jesus say this Heaven is like a net? Well Let’s explore the similarities.
The word here rendered “net” signifies a large drag-net, which draws everything after it, suffering nothing to escape. Difference from a fisherman casting-net, the efficacy of the Gospel is far-reaching and not limited by the reach of the fisherman.
This Gospel net “gathered of every kind,” meaning every variety of characters is allowed in. Jesus wants all to go to heaven, but I am sorry to say not all will make it, because of their unbelief. Some will be weeded out or sorted out!
Matthew 13:48 Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away.
Our sovereign God knows that some will need to be weeded out or sorted out. This will be done for the separation, and will not be made complete until the number of the elect is accomplished. This represents the judgment of God upon all men & women.
The number of the elect is accomplished- refers to the belief that God has already determined the exact number of individuals who will be saved and enter heaven. This concept is rooted in the doctrine of predestination, which suggests that God has chosen some for salvation before they are even born.
The Doctrine of Predestination is found in Ephesians
Ephesians 1:5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
Ephesians 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
We are to be good vessels, the ones that can be used of God. All were brought close but not all were good. The judgement of God is for all to face. But God choses those good vessels and casts away the bad ones.
As we compare to the tares and wheat of the parable in Matthew 13:38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;.
Those bad vessels, are literally, “the rotten,” but here meaning, “the foul” or “worthless” tares are the children of the wicked one; followers of Satan.
Matthew 13:49 So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,
We have said that each of these two parables holds forth the same truth, under a slight diversity of aspect. What is that diversity? First, the bad, in the former parable, are represented as vile seed sown among the wheat by the enemy of souls; in the latter, as foul fish drawn forth out of the great sea of human beings by the Gospel net itself.
Both parables have important truths- the Gospel draws within its group of which the visible Church, multitudes who are Christians in name only, and that the injury is done to the Church on earth and is to be traced to the wicked one (Satan). Within the church you will have saved and unsaved all claiming to be Christians. God tells us you will know them by their fruit. The unsaved will have no fruit, their tree will be barren, and their actions will reflect the results. We only have to look at the churches today see what has happened when Satan is allowed to flourish within its walls.
The former parable gives chief prominence to the present mixture of good and bad the prominence is given to the future separation of the two classes within the whole world. Saved and unsaved. Both will occur in the end of the world.
The end of the world- Is a Limited time frame. Meaning we cannot waste time in being saved! It is a life or death situation! Now is the time and today is the day.
The angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just. This is that weeding out of good vs bad, or saved vs unsaved.
Matthew 13:50 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Last Judgment takes place in the kingdom of heaven.
The furnace of fire- Firey pits of hell, where there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Reserved for the unsaved and bad vessels, and wicked ones.
When we are caught in the net we need to be sorted to the good and useful purposes of God’s will quickly. This will avoid the Firey pits of hell. Amen!
Jesus said to Paul, “My grace is sufficient for thee.” Amen! Everyone repeat!
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Amen!
