1Timothy 4:8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
Some exercise will help us to lose weight and to better health, but it does not save us. Godliness in our lives leads us to Jesus where we may be saved!
When we exercise it is strenuous work, it is not any easy or we would all be doing it with ease. You all have heard the saying “no pain no gain” that’s because it is pain full sometimes. More often than we think. We are taught in God’s word that we need to work out somethings in our lives. Our Salvation is one we will talk about today. As we begin our physical work out the first thing, we must do is to get our mind focused on the work out plan.
Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Jesus came as a servant to obey the will of the Father who sent him. We need to be His servants and have a servant’s mind set. Stick to the work out plan. Jesus showed us how to follow him. It is His plan.
Jesus came as a servant, Jesus humbled himself, he was meek, lowly, long suffering forbearing one another in love. We have a hard time doing this but with Go’s help we can overcome these things.
Philippians 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
Jesus has been given the position of Lord and Savior of this lost and dying world.
*We are to be servants and he is our Lord!
Lord to rule over us or Boss this means we have no authority to take that away from him. You follow what the boss says at work. The boss is in charge. We must follow our Lords leading. We need to be in followship of Him. Follow him. We must say Jesus is my Lord. Follow the plan.
Philippians 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
*Obedience is mentioned for it is an important key to our salvation process.
Jesus was with them, now he would be resurrected & absent from their presence as he is with us. Disciples were to go on without Jesus’s presence.
Work out= Greek word katergazomai (kat-er-gad’-zom-ahee)
Fear and Trembling Fear = Greek word =phobos (fob’-os) Root = phebomai (to be put in fear)
Trembling = Greek word =tromos (trom’-os) Root =tromo – (quaking with fear)
Reverence and Respect – To be in awe of who God is…the creator of all things.
We need to understand the importance of obedience in the presence of God and out of the presence of God. He did not say work for your salvation, He said work out your own salvation. As we work out our own salvation, what happens we put into operation our salvation. The Holy Spirit that in dwells you (the Life of Christ) in you and will help you as you put God’s work out plan in place. People will start to notice a change in you. Your life will start to impact others, they may even desire what you have. We must follow God’s leading in your life. We now have a responsibility to Him. As His servants.
We need to work together. We need to work through our issues. We need to work with other church members to accomplish God’s plan.
As we work out this salvation, we have been given we will send messages to others as they look upon our lives. So, if this is the case the question, we must ask ourselves is: What message are we sending? Do others see the Power of God in your life? Do others see your saved By the Grace of God? Do others see the best life you have ever experienced? Do others see the God answers prayers?
We need to send the right message out. Are we working it out at Home, at work, with family, with friends, and with other church members? And this is how we work out our salvation.
If you were invited to a place where it would not be fitting for Christians to go. Would you go? What message are we sending? We should always think before we act.
The next thing we see is this is very serious business. A matter of eternal life or eternal death. He said work it out with fear and trembling. May I remind you that there is no time that God does not see you. God does not want you to be scared but he wants you to have reverence for him and his son. We give him all the Glory and Honor that is due. For all He has done for us. Amen.
Philippians 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
Its not about you! Its about God, the Holy Spirit and Jesus! They are working through you! Amen!
Lastly, we must realize that whatever God asks or leads you to do He will enable you to do. If it is to teach, or preach, or to have the gift of helps. God’s will for each one of us has already been decided for us worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. We have been predestined to do his will. Not our will.
God has predetermined that we should conform to the likeness of Jesus his Son. He wants us all to be like his son. Jesus!
Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
He also did predestinate- He chose us before we decided to follow. That the beauty of our God. Sovereignty of our God is clear, he wants us to follow him and He knows each who will. He gives them the power and strength to do this.
He is making you ready to be conformed to the likeness of His Son Jesus!
To be conformed to the image of his Son- be conformed =to act according to or be obedient to a rule or norm a standard that God wants us to follow. This is for our sake. It is to help us change. Jesus set the example for us we just need to step up and follow it. We can be like Jesus!
This is the way we transform our old self into new self by following God’s work out plan.
Lets exercise! We can do this! Are you ready to start God’s work out plan?
Here is where we start. to work out our own salvation!
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
