Today, the world seems to have a problem with the truth. If we were to ask people about the Bible, the majority of those asked may tell you they don’t believe that.
Aristotle once said, “What at first seems only a little far from the truth will later be a thousand times farther apart.” Is this not a true statement? Look how far we have come in just a short few years. There was a time when it was a slim minority that may tell you that. We know you and I believe the Bible to be truth of God’s Word, and it reveals to us the God of Truth.
Deuteronomy 32:4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.
God is the Rock that we can build our life on. God’s work is perfect it is exactly right. All God’s ways are judgment. God of truth and without iniquity (no sin). God is the truth! God’s word is the truth! God ways the true! God ways the Right way!
How do we get to the truth of reality? First, we must know the meaning. The most common term for truth. Truth is factuality and validity as well as faithfulness, firmness and reliability. And the truth is not a lie, too.
Webster’s says, Truth = the quality or state of being true. Let us look at the Authenticity, Reliability, and Accuracy of God’s word.
Authenticity of God’s word is given by divine inspiration through holy men of God who spoke and wrote as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. In this Word, God has committed to humanity the knowledge necessary for salvation. God spoke and the Holy Spirit moved just like in Genesis. Amen!
Reliability of God’s word The New Testament contains 27 books, although some are not books per se, but letters. The four Gospels – Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John – are key in establishing what we know about Jesus including his birth, ministry, teachings, death, resurrection, and more. For a thorough defense of the reliability of the Gospels. So, the Gospels can confirm the reliability of the Old Testament. Because Jesus came to fulfill the prophecies and the Law.
Accuracy of God’s word; The Bible is an ancient, historical collection of books. The first book was written around 3,400 years ago and the last book around 1,900 years ago. Historians who study ancient texts like those written by Homer, Plato and Aristotle use certain criteria to determine their reliability. This same criteria has been applied to the Bible.
There are three tests which are commonly used by historians to test the reliability and accuracy of ancient documents:
- the bibliographical test
- the internal evidence test
- and the external evidence test
When these tests are applied to the Bible, there is no doubt that the Bible is an accurate and historical document.
Fact is we have the Bible, God’s written word to us. Can we believe and agree that it is the infallible word of God. If your answer is a resounding yes!
Then we need to follow what it tells you to do and do it. Our lives will, then change for the better. Amen!
There is one thing we all have in our home that shows us the truth every day, it’s a mirror. It will show you the truth of every day, when you cry it will show you your crying face, it will show you your happy face, when you are happy, and it will show you your laughing face. It will show you how great you look in your favorite dress or suit, it will show you how beautiful you are in your youth. But it will show you how your beauty has faded over the years too. It tells us the truth of reality each day. What we need is the truth of reality each day, just like we need Gods word every day.
Now that we know that God’s word is truth just as the mirror is truth, we must know what God wants us to know about His word.
Psalm 33:4 For the word of the Lord is right; and all his works are done in truth.
No fault in it at all. We have seen it in his creation too.
Titus 1:2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
God wants us to see the hope in His word, God wants us to experience the peace of His word and the saving grace in His word. The Life-giving Word!
John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
We must confess the one and true God and understand that he Sent his only son into this world to be the sacrifice for a world fill with sin and corruption. So, that we may be sanctify and justify us before a Holy God.
John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
Once we are sanctified and justified, we should also start to learn the word of God so we may share it with others.
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Teaching and preaching the truth that we have learned is a way to keep us aware of the needs of God’s people and the church and or community.
God wants us well versed in His word so that we can Share in the power of that word and draw us closer to God.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Selah. Amen.
