In society today we do not see a lot of people that Fear the Lord. I honestly believe it is because these people have seared their conscience with sin. Deception of sin numbs people’s consciences, tempting them toward disobedience and wickedness, preventing and perverting them to be drawn away from God instead of drawing closer to Him.
This fear that I am speaking of is not a scared fear, but a reverence fear. Realizing God is in control of everything. From the beginning of life until the end of life.
You must realize that God is the source of mankind’s life, the beginning and the end, the Alpha and the Omega, and the One who governs all things. Humanity, created in God’s image, we must first revere our God.
As God’s people we should reverence to our God. This fear is a profound, awe-filled respect and honor for our divine Lord. It is influencing a believer’s worship, ethics, and daily life, often described as a holy fear. The fear of displeasing or disappointing our God. This will lead to our obedience, gratitude, and righteous living in all our actions, not just formal worship.
It demonstrated through praising, honoring, meditating on scripture, showing humility, and treating others with dignity, respect, and reflecting God’s holiness in every deed we do.
Psalm 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.
When we have a fear of the Lord it is the beginning of wisdom. This in turn brings forth reverence to God and His words, this is when we can learn clearly grasp the message, He has for each one of us and gaining us discernment and wisdom.
In the beginning Adam and Eve caused sin to enter the world. The sin they committed greatly angered God, who cursed humanity and imposed the penalty of death. Sin is very powerful. It can only be overcome by God’s power. Only by God’s power can sins be forgiven, and death and Satan overcome. Yet Adam and Eve treated sin very lightly; thus, through truth and falsehood, they fell into temptation and disobedience. Adam and Eve took sin in a very light way, and this is clearly far from the truth. The sin they allowed in has been passed down through all generations. So, it caused God to create another way for us to get rid of this evil that had entered. By God sending His only son as a payment for the sins allowed of the entire world past, present, and future. With this action Jesus overcame death and the Grave once and for all.
Wisdom helps us to make wiser decision in life and when we do that it aids in getting rid of things that God desires, we not have in our lives when we come to worship Him.
Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
Here is a list of things that hinder worship, disrupt worship, or obstruct the gospel: evil, pride and arrogance, wicked ways, deceitful words and actions, lies and jealousy. All these evil things will interfere with our worship and may cause others to lose their salvation. Do not sit, walk, or speak with the foolish and wicked, for Satan’s temptations will destroy you, me, and the world. They lead us unwittingly into corruption, obstructing the path to salvation. Cast aside foolishness and pride—these are ignorance—immediately. Wisdom and discernment come from God’s Word, which teaches us to recognize the wicked—just as the Scripture says, “If your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out; and if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off.” All these things cannot be in the same place as a Holy God. Because they are contrary to His word and His essence.
May you arm yourselves with prayer to put faith into practice, strive for fellowship with fellow believers, and become those who pray to avoid falling into sin and temptation.
Proverbs 14:26 In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.
This proverb tells us that we can have strong confidence in the Lord, if we fear Him. It also is telling us that we will become His children, and we will have a place of safety in His presence. Because of our obedience. It is the grace of salvation itself. And it is because of our obedience.
Proverbs 14:27 The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
Once we increase our faith, knowledge, and wisdom we will be more confident to share God’s word with others. Then we can become the fountain God needs us to be. This fountain of life is where we can get the water of life, that we need. We will not seek to search in other places for the truth found within the word of God.
God wants His word to be a spring, springing up from within us and be a continuous flow from our lips to the praise of God. Amen!
Proverbs 22:4 By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.
Humility is important to our success in Christ Jesus, it will increase our faith, and we learn to yield to the Holy Spirit for the unity of all partakers. As we become humble it brings honor and riches into our lives and will strengthen our faith.
We all need to daily confess and repent. This pleases God, frees us from the burdens of our hearts, and fills us with joy.
2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
As we draw closer to God and are more obedient to Him, our fear changes to spirit of power, love, and we gain a sound mind because of the knowledge and wisdom we have acquired from the word of God. Then we can make good and Godly discernment in our decision making that will line up with scripture.
Deuteronomy 6:2 That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.
We must fear the Lord and keep all His statutes and his commandments, teach them to our children, and our children’s children. God says, He will bless us and our generations. He also promises longevity of life to all who partake.
God’s faithfulness to his people is repeatedly shown and reiterated throughout the bible. God’s promises to redeem His people, but we have to obligate ourselves to Him first. We must set ourselves apart from this current world and follow Him.
When we fear the Lord and keep all His statutes and his commandments we avoid discipline through chastisement of God.
God will discipline his own people in his own way. It’s called chastisement. It may be the similar to the way your father did to you through discipline when we did not follow his rules. However, chastisement is a stronger punishment, and it comes from God himself. We would not belong to God if we were not chastised by Him. God gives us trials we can bear, and when we cannot bear them, He provides a way out. For we are God’s own. God’s grace is sufficient for thee!!!
Obedience is better than sacrifice!!!
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Amen.
