What if our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ did not show up and take upon himself the Cross for the entire world?
What if God never contacted His creation and never gave any instruction’s too us?
What if we had no way to communicate with God?
How would we know His character?
What if we had no coaching at all?
What if there were never any consistency with God the father, Jesus the Son, or the Holy Spirit?
We might feel as though God has abandoned us, eventually becoming slaves to sin—useless and valueless, vanishing like foam—and falling alone into a dark void of evil, pain, sorrow, and rage, devoid of any hope or future. Without hope for the future, one might ask, “Why live?”
A life that feels utterly futile, stripped of all hope. Yet, because we have been saved through faith in the precious blood of Jesus’ cross and in the resurrected Jesus who conquered the power of death, we possess the hope of eternal life.
This is more than likely how our family feels if we do not follow these seven following fundamentals. A father who fulfills his duties, imparts wisdom, nurtures his children, and teaches his family well serves as the pillar of the home.
The Seven Fundamentals of Fatherhood
These are the core pillars of good parenting skills:
Commitment: Show up every day. Your actions speak louder than words.
We need to listen to God and dedicate yourself to Him and teach your children through our daily walk. If we tell our children that they need to go to Church, but we never enter the door of a church we are not setting the proper example for them. You were once committed to being married and you committed to having children. Your responsible for them. Do not expect someone else to do it for you, no one else but you.
Contact: Give them plenty of affection. Just as God bestows His unfailing love upon us, we must teach it to them. Encouragement, forgiveness, trust, stability, and truth will build trust and security.
We need to have daily contact when possible. If we cannot have daily contact at least weekly or bi-weekly. A lot of things can happen in this time period.
Connect: A father should spend quality, uninterrupted time with your children. While maintaining a dignified and faithful walk with God. Do not think that everything is ok, even if there is no complaints being addressed. Build a relationship upon the Word of God and avoid trying to be their best friend. You are not and will never be that to them you are a parent. Teach them order and respect of God and his word.
Communication: Listen more than you speak. Be a father of faith who validates their feelings, even when they make mistakes. Teach them right from wrong based on God’s Word. I think this is one of our biggest problems we don’t communicate or we have weak communication shills. We need to be good listeners first in order to be able to communicate properly. We also must realize that the root of the problem lies in a lack of daily meditation on the Word, as well as a lack of obedience and prayer in your life.
Character: Fathers should lead by example. Children copy what you say, and your actions, and by that modeling a positive emotional intelligence and accountability is key to setting a strong foundation in life. A father of good character is humble and sets an example of faith. We should always lead by example and be willing to do things that we expect others to do. God’s Word and wisdom lay a solid foundation for life; they shape a person who lives by faith and lead to the blessing of reaping a harvest of joy.
Coaching: Guide them through life’s challenges instead of just punishing them. Fathers should impart life wisdom and clear explanations; guide your children by teaching them through God’s Word how to overcome difficulties and understand what was previously unclear, instilling in them both courage and wisdom. God the Father who forgives, bestows blessings, and generously gives all things to his people. Be the best coach you can be.
Consistency: Fathers keep your rules and routines and be predictable. Be one who diligently and consistently obeys God’s rules and will. Be consistent in your faith it may be the one thing that will keep the family unit together and fill them with joy and happiness. God is consistent in all he has done, for you and me. He has not changed we have.
This Father’s Day and we should know what the Bible tell us we should do.
Genesis 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
Some of us need to leave home and cleave to our wives. It will certainly make us grow up and see that you are the one responsible for taking care of the family’s needs.
Genesis 12:1 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
Go away from home, so it may be harder for you to return home. If you are to close to home you may end up back at home, and lose many blessing you could have had, if you had stayed away.
Genesis 25:28 And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.
Do not play favorites among your children, treat them all the same.
Genesis 48:15 And he blessed Joseph, and said, God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac did walk, the God which fed me all my life long unto this day,
Bless your children tell them about your God.
Deuteronomy 6:7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
Teach them God’s word.
Deuteronomy 5:16 Honour thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
Tell them as they honor there mother and father they will be blessed with longevity in life.
1 Samuel 2:25 If one man sin against another, the judge shall judge him: but if a man sin against the LORD, who shall intreat for him? Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto the voice of their father, because the LORD would slay them.
This clearly says it is a life-or-death situation and if we fail to honor God and follow his commandments, we will parish by God’s choosing.
1 Corinthians 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
Fathers we are to know that Christ is supposed to be our head and Fathers are the head of the women and that the rest of the family submit to these authorities. This is God’s way or natural order.
Ephesians 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the savior of the body.
This clearly shows Father’s are the responsible for the family’s salvation! As Fathers we have a grave responsibility. We must be fathers who fear God above all else, set ourselves apart from the ungodly in this world. For the sake of ourselves and our families. I urge you to learn the truth of our saving God. We need the word of God to help us along our way because we will never learn this from the world or the ungodly. Only the word of God, and God-fearing people will be will to teach you this awesome responsibility. Do not forget the fundamentals, principles, and duties of a father. A father to share God’s holy love and grace, forgiveness, and mercy, of a loving God. Be a father who loves your wife and cherishes her as you would your own body, who instructs your children in God’s Word. Father’s, are you currently fulfilling your duty?
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Amen.
