The church, is to worship God in spirit and truth, through prayer, singing hymns, reading scripture, learning from Bible, engaging in fellowship and other events, we serve with faith and build a community. These things are intended to provide support and guidance through all our life circumstances and lead us to salvation through our belief in Jesus Christ. This is the start of our blessings.
Johnson Oatman Jr. penned these wonderful words to an age old hymn in his first verse of Count Your Blessings goes like this, “When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed, When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost, Count your many blessings, name them one by one, And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.”
Johnson Oatman is telling us to have reflection on our lives and be thankful that our situation is not worse than we are experiencing. Often, we wallow in self-pity and let Satan attack us and fill us with doubt. Jesus said, “I have overcome the world”. If Jesus is our example, we need to figure out how He overcame the world and follow that process.
Are we wasting precious time dwelling on sin and the past, dwelling on the good and the bad? Yes! Please don’t.
Kairos vs. Chronos Time
Kairos (Opportune Time): A moment of divine timing, a strategic and significant opportunity that comes with purpose and urgency. It’s about aligning with God’s perfect timing and acting on His guidance. Dealing with now or future.
Chronos (Quantitative Time): The linear, clock-based, or sequential flow of minutes, hours, and days. Calendars and watches measure Chronos time. Dealing with past and present. We can change today, but not tomorrow.
When we ask for forgiveness of sins, God forgives us immediately, and our sins is already sent into the sea of forgetfulness, never to be remembered no more. God does not deal in past he deals with the now and future. Satan deals in the past. Amen.
Psalms 121:1 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
Psalms 121:2 My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
At 4:20 a.m. on our way home, we were driving on the southbound road we usually took. It was raining, and the road was busy with large trucks. While navigating between the large trucks, a white JB Hunt 18-wheeler suddenly came roaring by, making a loud banging sound as it collided. The truck speeded past us in an instant. Then, I saw our side mirror was missing. I was so shocked, and I was speechless, and simultaneously overwhelmed.
It was pitch-black dawn; I started following the truck. After following for a while, I realized it. how much worse it could have been.
I realized I followed him aways off my intended route, but that I couldn’t stop a large truck on the highway or call for help. I turned back toward our original route, thanking God for guiding us. I gave thanks and thanks again to God, who protected us. God who watches like the apple of His eye and kept us safe in that dangerous moment.
After that, we realized the safety and escape route, God had granted us, and we counted our blessings. God precious love He bestowed to us and our Savior Jesus—who was crucified on the cross, cleansed our sins with His precious blood, and forgave us! My wife and I gave thanks and glory to God. With peace and gratitude in our hearts, we reflected on the blessings God had given us and were profoundly thankful that a greater accident had not occurred. The truck could have rammed the entire side of our vehicle or pushed us off the road, and we could all have ended up somewhere in a hospital. We give great thanks for God’s protection! God is good. Amen!
I earnestly pray that you and I may be saints who always thank God for His constant protection. Do not complain or grumble.
We thank you for the prayers of the saints! We arrived home safely. The side mirror can be fixed. But someone’s life cannot be brought back.
And God, who allowed me to meet my parents this time, my parents accepted Jesus as their Savior.
1 Timothy 2:3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
1 Timothy 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
During this time of meeting my parents, God’s guidance and protection were with us. My parents expressed their desire to truly participate in repentance and Jesus’ salvation, asking me for help. They made an immense and crucial decision: precisely in Jesus’ name, they confessed, repented, and were saved. They gained the assurance of becoming children of heaven. Amen.
I am a pastor. I have been called to preach the gospel to many people and participate in their salvation. However, I truly repented for not thinking it important to share the gospel with my own parents, assuming they already knew it, and not even confirming it. My parents said how joyful they are, how peaceful they feel, and that they are no longer afraid of death. They said they wanted to ask their own son, the pastor, rather than another pastor, and I answered boldly, filled with great joy.
I nearly committed a grave wrong against my parents, and my God unforgivable mistake, a great act of foolish disobedience.
This could have led to useless to gnashing teeth and weeping and regret over such a foolish action. Once again, I give thanks as I reflect on the blessing God has bestowed. Everyone, share the gospel with your parents, siblings, children, and friends before it’s too late. We gave thanks and glory to God the Father, who granted us this truly precious and blessed day during our parents’ visit.
I am counting my blessings, for our Church and all that has been done here, and what will be done here in future. Amen!
Psalms 107:8 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
This verse appears four time in this chapter just like it would be the chorus in a hymn. Psalms 107: 8,15,21,31. Just as “Count your many blessings, name them one by one, And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.” Is to the above-mentioned hymn. God desire us to praise Him.
Deuteronomy 28:2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.
God tells us to hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God and we will be blessed. I want that because I believe listening to God’s guidance brings us peace and purpose to our lives. What blessings have you experienced when you listened to God’s voice?
The blessings God has bestowed are so infinite that they cannot be expressed or counted by human lips. Only when we give thanks for each precious day, repent daily, listen to the Word of God, the Lord of our lives, and give thanks in all things, can Satan not deceive us or lead us into temptation.
We all need count your Blessings everyday!
Count the blessings God has given you each day and realize that obedience is better than sacrifice.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Selah! Amen!
