Church Discipline 교회 규율

No one likes to be Disciplined.     Not even my self!      Church Discipline is serious business!

Church Discipline from time to time may happen. We need not fear it. We need to have clarity on this issue. It is scriptural and is to be used to aid the congregation in their growing faith, as well as the healthiness of the Church.

False teachers are described here in Crete. Paul says to faithful ministers must oppose them.  The false teachers end was serving a worldly interest, and they had the love of money and that is the root of all evil and it should be resisted.

If we focus on sound doctrine from the Scriptures, we will not go wrong in our lives and will not have to be disciplined. The heart of man in every age and place is deceitful and desperately wicked. But the sharpest reproofs must aim at the good of the reproved; and soundness in the faith is most desirable and necessary to continue in the will of God.  This did not just happen in Crete, it has happened in every church that has existed since the beginning.

Titus 1:10 For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision: 

We can become these insubordinate, gossiping, back biting, envy, jealousy, and strife, all comes from the murmuring and disputing people we have in our churches today.  If we disagree with the discipline. what is the first thing that happens we become unruly which leads us to not confront those that brought it to our attention, but we become those vain talkers and we start to burn up the phone lines with heated anger and end up being the deceivers, spreading false teaching lies an deception.  Yes, we have fallen into Satan’s trap and allow the enemy in to seek out whom he may devour. He loves this sort of thing because he does not have to work at it because we are ethe one doing the destruction.

circumcision= is a procedure that removes something that is not needed. In fact it it is more healthy for you to do or have it done.   Or what we sometimes say is “cut it out!” sometime we need to cut out the root of evil in our lives. If you went to the doctor,  and he said to you, you need an operation to live we have to cut this bad organ out of your body in order to stay alive. What would you do? Most would have the operation to cut out the bad organ to live longer. If not it could lead to death.  Paul is telling his faithful ministers to cut out / cut off this bad organ before it get worse. Quickly and swiftly. Amen!

Specially- Jewish people were known for circumcision. It show us separation from others.  We can refer to the believers also.

Titus 1:11 Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake.

Whose mouths must be stopped -literally, “muzzled,” “bridled” as an unruly beast. Remember the tongue is a little member but, it can burn a forest down, if left unresolved.

Who subvert whole houses- cause other people to go astray. Destruction can occur. Starting clicks or groups of people for the purpose of destruction.

subvert= undermine the power and authority of the intuition ( Church ordained by God and his power and authority)

whole houses=entire church or congregation. (God’s houses)

Teaching things which they ought not- false doctrine- contrary to the word of God. Teaching things that should not be taught, perverting the word of God.

If they are left to fester it will infect others. to include the entire house of God.

Titus 1:12 One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.

Imagine their own people were saying how bad they had become not a good report of their reputation.

Even a prophet of their own, said-they were liars. Satan it the father of all lies.

Selfishness –crept in and was destroying what had been built for them by Paul and for the Lord Jesus Christ.                                                                                                 

Titus 1:13 This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;

 A true witness-true doctrine, found in God’s word. A true witness tells the truth.  It is that testimony that is called the truth.

 Rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith- Immediately and quick to save the rest of the congregation the situation must be delt with.

*From time-to-time faithful ministers must oppose the foolishness of man’s hearts and tell them straight up, this is not right and will not be tolerated here in God’s house. If those being rebuked take offense to it, It is their problem.  They have no right to blame the messenger of God, or those that follow him.*

 Because it is a matter of life and death.

Titus 1:14 Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.

 We turn from the truth- when we believe the old fables and lies of Satan, we lose the reality of truth, and turn away from it. We can backslide on God. The we Lose rewards that are promised to us.

Jewish fables, and commandments of men=fables are of man, and the law came from Moses, we just like those in Israelites could not keep all the law we cannot either but, it is good for moral lifestyle which we all need in our lives. God has instructed us through his word which is truth. God Law is always supreme to man’s law.

Titus 1:15 Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.

Unto the pure all things are pure: Purity is sought out received with all gladness. (believers)

to them that are defiled: they believe nothing is pure. God’s word says even their mind and conscience are defiled. (unbelievers)

If  I had a glass of sewer water, and it looked clean and had clarity to it, should I drink it knowing that it is sewer water. No! That would mean I would add impurities into a Holy vessel and now I become unclean and impure.  Throw it out!

Titus 1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

but in works they deny him- denying God and his power & authority.

abominable—themselves, though laying so much stress on the contracting of abomination

reprobate—rejected as worthless when tested.

No one wants to be rejected of God but, if we do not make it right and repent and confess God can not help us because God and Sin don’t mix like oil and water.

God loves you and wants us all to come to repentance. That’s why we have.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting.
