A Christian mother was concerned about her son’s salvation, so she just kept leaving tracks in his path around the home. Her son got mad at that, so he asked his mother not to do that at home, and he also said that while he was walking to work and some man gave him one and even at lunch at the café too. In his frustration he yelled is there anywhere I can go to get away form your God! His mother replied, maybe if you go to Hell, God won’t be there. His mother replied, maybe if you go to Hell, God won’t be there.
And this is a place where we never want to be. However, some have already chosen to go there because of their unbelief. God’s word tells us …. Hell was created by God for all those fallen angels and Satan. Satan is roaming the earth around seeking whom he my devour. He does not want to be in hell alone.
Adam & Eve
Genesis 3:8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
Do you remember the time when you had gotten caught with your hand in the cookie jar? You knew you could not lie you had to tell the truth… Man’s sin caused shame, disappointment, and has caused a fracture in the relationship with God.
Genesis 3:9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
Have you ever heard the saying, Your sin will find you out!… It is a true statement. I know that God knew where they were and that there was no escape for them, they sinned and it had been found out.
Genesis 3:10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
Adam and Eve were fully exposed before God. God already knew they had sinned. He was checking to see if they would tell the truth.
Genesis 3:11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
God knew all along and they had eaten.. Nothing takes God by surprise!
Genesis 3:12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
Adam immediately blamed Eve, an even worse sin, now he escalated the sin that he had caused.
We need to understand that God is omnipresent and all omnipotent. An all-knowing all-seeing God. He is the Creator of all things.
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
This being the case there is no where that we can go where God would not know where we were.
David
David asked the Lord Where shall I go and God not be there.
Psalms 139:7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? Or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
There is nowhere you can go where you will not experience the living God. His creation shows all His glory. We will experience this daily. Because God that created it all. His creation is self-containing even if man were not here it would continue to grow.
Psalm 139:8 I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
The omnipresence of God shows us we will never be able to hid anything from God. Even the smartest cunning people can not out smart or hide from God. He knows and sees all.
Psalm 139:11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; Even the night shall be light about me.
Even if we think that the darkness will cover us, we are sadly mistaken. It’s like my God has night vision.
Psalm 139:12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; But the night shineth as the day: The darkness and the light are both alike to thee out
Even the darkness of hell can not keep the light of God out and he knows who is there too.
God cannot occupy the same time at the same space as sin; it is not in God’s nature. Therefore, the only place God will not be present is in Hell. Only you can choose to not to go to heaven and be in the presence of a Holy God. God has given each one of us a measure of time to choose whether we will follow.
Remember the rich man, and the beggar named Lazarus, both died Lazarus went up to heaven, and the rich man went to hell.
Luke 16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
Abraham being the type or the image of God we see clearly here that God is aware of who is in Hell and why they are there. We also see that he was not actually there he was in heaven. Jesus overcame death and hell. Did you notice the rich man saw from afar off Lazarus in God’s bosom. Notice in this God and Lazarus do nothing for this man in his own torment in hell, because of his own unbelief.
Everyone, obedience is far more precious than sacrifice. May you live a life walking with God—not a life spent trying to avoid Him—and receive the blessing of entering into eternal life.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Amen!
