In the Bible, the Apostle Paul uses the analogy of the body and its members. The members of our body that appear weaker are more essential, and the members that are not beautiful gain beauty. The members of our body move, hear, see, smell, feel, and direct, and since each member has its own role, they do not divide but fulfill their roles well. The members of our body are body parts that help each other very gently and joyfully. Even the hidden organs within the body strive to fulfill their assigned roles. If we take good care of ourselves and use our bodies cleanly and purely, we can truly enjoy a healthy life. In today’s passage, the feet and eyes play a very important role. They can respond in accordance with God’s guidance. The feet and eyes of God and Jesus Christ are symbolically mentioned to describe their sacred characteristics.
Feet or Foot in the Bible are described in this manner. The part of the body associated with moving and with foundation, direction and chosen path. Feet may symbolize the response to God’s direction. The feet of God and of Jesus Christ are mentioned symbolically to describe some divine characteristics. Foundation in truth, direction in God will for our eyes and He chose you for a specific task
In the Vietnam War, soldiers faced foot-related issues due to the humid and wet conditions, often leading to conditions like “jungle rot” or “trench foot”. These conditions were caused by prolonged exposure to dampness and cold, resulting in numbness, pain, and potential tissue damage. This led to long-term illnesses and significant manpower losses.
A considerable amount of inadequate treatment can be attributed to what appeared to be minor wounds. Many minor foot wounds were ignored by the soldier until a deep infection had become well established and the function of the foot seriously compromised. The Medical facilities tended to compound the problem by giving foot wounds the lowest priority.
Obviously, this clearly shows us they were unprepared for this situation, or they would have handled it differently. Our health is important to our progress with the Lord if we are not healthy it is hard to do the work, He wants us to accomplish. We need our feet to walk, to carry us where we need to go. We also need them to carry us where God wants us to be. Some people do not have certain body parts, and some have lost them in accidents. Therefore, we should always be grateful for our limbs, and we should appreciate, encourage, and be thankful for every part of our bodies.
In fact, we need all parts of our body, if one is hurting, all the body is hurting. The same with the Church body. We should cherish one another, encourage one another, be grateful to one another, bind up one another’s wounds, help one another, and bear one another’s burdens with God’s precious heart. Our Lord and God wants us to be victorious in the battle, and that He will prepare all things for us to be successful.
1 Corinthians 12:21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.
If we look at our Christian Walk as if we were Christian soldier, we must always be ready and prepared for duty and action. Soldiers should be prepared always. Why, because the enemy is always active, and his attacks are unexpected.
Paul warns us to know the devil (our enemy). He will do anything to bring a Christian down or make you fall. We need each other to do the work. You need to do your part whatever it may be…
1 Corinthians 12:26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.
We are all one and we make up Riverview Baptist Church. If one part of the body suffers then whole body suffers a loss. Those that were exposed to “jungle rot” or “trench foot” This led to long-term illnesses and great loss of manpower for our fighting troops.
If one part is honored all parts rejoice with them, we are all the body of Christ, and each one is an individually member of it. We are all needed, can I get an Amen.
Ephesians 6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Shod = Greek “having under bound the feet;” that is, having bound on the shoes, or sandals, The protection of the feet and ankles consisted of two parts:
Paul encourages believers to have our “feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace,” meaning there must be a firmness and a mobility, readiness and be prepared for action at every moment.
Preparation is an element of mobility, which is of great significance in warfare. Christians must not only watch the enemy but be ready to counter his moves and meet him where he is attacking. If our feet are protected, we have a better chance of completing our tour of duty for the Lord. A Christian’s way lies through rough places, through briers and thorns, and therefore he needs this piece of armor. He must be prepared to hold the faith and confess Christ in the most difficult times. Like David, the Christian must be ready to fight in God’s way, no matter how impossible or ridiculous it seems.
Christian must have firmness in strategy: the battle against the devil is the same as it always has been. The battle is fundamentally the same in every age – against the devil and his forces. But tactics must adapt to the times.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Amen!
