Written for Israel, the Jewish nation. Those Jews who were in Rome Paul who used to be Saul says…
Verse 1 Brethren, this expression seems intended particularly for the Jews, his ancient friends, fellow-worshippers, and kinsmen, but Who had embraced the Christian faith. My heart’s desire.
The word “desire” (eudokia, yoo-dok-ee’-ah) means benevolence; and the expression, “my heart’s desire,” means my earnest and sincere wish. “That they might be saved.” This clearly refers to salvation from the sin of unbelief, and the consequences of sin in hell. Paul had a love for the brethren!
Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
This includes all of us. No one, not even those who think they live a good life and not bother or give harm to others.
Romans 10:3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
Ignorant = lack of knowledge, you do not know something. – Hosea 4:6
God’s righteousness = The great reformer Martin Luther defined the “righteousness of God” as the righteousness that comes from God; it is God’s way of making a sinner “right” before Him. Luther said that this righteousness is the first and last need of any sinful individual.
The believers righteous—that is, “without guilt or sin”—but it also refers to “perfect righteousness,” a characteristic that can only be attributed to God Himself.
In our human behavior, it cannot be achieved by anyone, apart from God! They would try to establish their own righteousness- by making their own rules.
We need the righteousness of Jesus Christ, that is imputed to us because we have no righteousness of our own. We are all sinners by nature, and we cannot make ourselves in the right standing with God without His assistance. I am nothing without Jesus!
The Bible has many examples of doing it alone….
Romans 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
Christ is the end of the law mosaic covenant = law ended, when Jesus Christ God’s only son came on the scene and brought salvation into the world, and became the sacrifice for sin of the entire world.
In short, righteousness is a gift from God. There is no righteousness apart from Jesus Christ and his sacrifice for us on the cross. Amen!
Sad thing is even when we declare the truths of the Bible there are some that will be lost; when they are constrained, or held back, by the unbelief and wickedness of men and sin, and Satan’s hold on them. They will lose their opportunity for salvation.
Romans 8:30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
The fullness of righteousness will be manifest at the second coming of the Lord Jesus, when all those who have been justified will also be glorified.
The word justified, = Just-if-i’ed – Never sinned, all our sin are taken away at he cross.
He did predestinate – chose before, for he knows you!
Psalm 23:3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
God has done this for us for His glory not ours. We are His to do of His good will. We belong to him! He has placed us on His path!
2 Peter 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
As history moves toward the final glorious manifestation of God’s kingdom, when all creation will be renewed in “righteousness”—that is, all creation will be right with God, without sin, forever. Amen!
His promise- hold fast to it don’t let it go.
Look for it- expect it to happen!
But first we all must make the personal choice, ourselves what we believe and whom we will serve. God or Satan, or Everlasting life, or everlasting torment, in heaven with God, in hell with Satan. It is all up to you! It is your choice!
Don’t make the choice out of ignorance like the Jews did.
If Jesus is calling come. Come now
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
