The apple is very appealing to the eye, just by looking at it I can imagine the taste, the crispness, the sweet tart taste, and that old saying an apple a day keeps the doctor away! You know Sin is appealing too. Just like the apple it lures you in so does Sin. Once we sin, we hold onto it. And then it gets worse. It enter the eye gate then enters the mind, you think about it and then it enters the heart of man , and that is when you act on and commit the Sin.
Lures = means to lead astray from one’s true course or drawing into danger, evil, or difficulty through attracting and deceiving you. Things we may say; (You say I need it. Or I desire it. I don’t want to give it up!) All these word describe the word lure allure, bait, beguile, betray, decoy, entice, lead on, seduce, solicit, and tempt.
Sin which has existed since the fall of man. The original sin arose from Adam and Eve’s transgression in Garden of Eden, their sin of disobedience in eating the forbidden fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
You may say, Pastor I am a good person I mind my own business, and I don’t get involved in others business, I am all around good person. Wrong!
Let’s face it you and I, we all have a sin problem!
Anyone who says they don’t are just lying to yourself. Oh, and that is a sin too!
God word says;
Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
John 8:7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
Sin in the heart is invisible, to most but God sees it and the devil sees it. When God sees it, he guides us to repent of it. When the devil sees it, he uses it against us and that allows doubt, fear and defeat to enter in our lives and then destruction hits. The devil is a destroyer! God is the deliver!
Our sin is not seen by most man and women, until it is exposed. Then everyone sees it.
Genesis 6:5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
Isaiah 30:1 Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin:
We see here that he refers to us as rebellious children. We are rebellious because of our disobedience in not following the word of God. If we are not following God we will follow Satan. When we follow the Devil we tend to pick up our sin and walk away with it ….don’t we. God ask us to lay it at his feet, and he will wash it away. But, we don’t go right back and pick it up and sin again.
Judges 13:1 And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD; and the LORD delivered them into the hand of the Philistines forty years.
We are just like Israelites roaming around in the wilderness of the desert for forty years. Always being delivered up to their enemies for captivity. Not the best place to be. Let us count just some of the children of Israel sin.
430 Years in Egypt- because of sin, 40 years in desert wilderness because of sin, 40 years in control by Philistines, and 70 years in Babylon just a few. This alone is is 580 years of sin.. We are no better than them. We are just like them. We are all made in the image of God. And we have a sin nature and only Jesus can cleanse us from that sin. Amen! They have been holding on to many years of sin.
When we sin, we become a servant to that sin, then we become controlled by it. God knows it, and wants to cleanse us from it, be we must desire to choose to change. God is a good and Sovern God Amen!
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
This implies your working to commit this Sin, and your reward is death. But God offers forgiveness, and the reward is eternal life. If I am going to work for a reward, I want the best. God offers the best to his people; Satan does not offer his best in fact he offers eternal death. Hell is hot! He does not want to be there alone “seeking whom he may devour.”
Titus 2:12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
God and his word, teaches us that we need to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts. It also teaches us how to follow him and his word. This is why the word of God was given to us to teach us the way to a holy God. Jesus said; “I am the way the truth and the life no one comes to the Father but by or through me”
Acts 13:37 But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption. (Jesus)
Jesus is our example. God raised Jesus, as his father he taught him, just as our earthly fathers taught us.
Acts 13:38 Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: (only Jesus preached forgiveness of sins)
Jesus preached tohis disciples the word and they wrote it down for us! Amen!
Acts 13:39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses. (Moses could not save anyone, Only Jesus can save)
The law of Moses could not wash away the sin, only the blood sacrifice, Jesus is our blood sacrifice.
Jesus tells us the worst sin, is rejection of God in the world. Jesus who alone reveals the sinfulness of rejecting God in order to deliver us from our blindness, and all evil schemes of the devil. He will reveal to us a new life which starts here on earth. And leads us to know the way to God’s Kingdom. Jesus is the way!
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Quit holding onto your sin, give it to God and be released from it. Amen!
