Last week we talked about the phrase “And It Came to Pass”. Learned about what the bible was tell us and God was teaching us about our trial and tribulation. We also learned that if we are to short our trials, we must understand that they are for our benefit and that there is a lesson to be learned in each one.
We left of with, Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
And we must realize that God has never tempted anyone the tempter is none other than Satan himself. We must be wise to the tempters snare and realize that it is there to make us fall from grace that God has already promised us. The tempter may come, but God will give us the way to escape the trials.
1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
How wonderful it is to remember that death too comes to pass. While death is certain for all, so also is the resurrection for those who believe! How tragic it would be if we were to end up in hell after serving the Lord God and never to experience the resurrection because of unbelief!
However, for those who can escape the tempter snare, there is the resurrection morning. Death is not permanent but simply a door of transition from time to eternity. Death too comes to pass. Eternity is forever. Think of it to be in eternity with our Holy God in heaven forever… or enternity in Hell for our unrepented sins forever…
There is a sense in which we too come to pass. God’s word describes us as being sojourners who will soon leave this world. We are travelers and wanderers, who are simply awaiting the call to come home. The older you get, the more you realize this truth. We will be with our God in Heaven one day.
Luke 21:36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
If our circumstances seem to drag on and on, like Jobs, we might have a difficult time seeing to the light at the end of the tunnel, or when they will end. If we don’t trust God to help us through, it’s likely to cause confusion, depression and hopelessness will overtake us. But if we trust God to provide a way out – He is the “way maker;” that is what Jesus is all about – and we stand resolute in our trust in him, we can anticipate the end coming and that it will be for our good. We can live in hope and increase in our faith.
There is another way of looking at “and it came to pass.” It is that something will end. Disease or infirmity, poverty, infidelity, family disharmony, isolation, or political upheaval. A friend once commented it was good that things came to pass. That person was trusting the situation would change. There will be many things in our lives which can temporarily upset us. Just remember that all these too come to pass. And it is also your choice how to handle it.
We have been given several warnings in scripture. David gave us warning in Psalms and he tells us that the only place we can find forgiveness is with God.
Psalm 130:4 But there is forgiveness with thee, That thou mayest be feared.
We must also fear God, the Creator and His Sovereign power. We must respect and love the high and Holy God. He also lets us know we should fear that power. God is to be reverenced. To be held with high regard. We look to God for our help as David did. Jesus warns us, in Mark if we blaspheme, we are in danger.
Mark 3:29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:
We are in danger of eternal damnation, this is what most of the world is doing today. They are not taking the word of God seriously. Eternal equals forever, this is why serious repentance from our sin is required.
Jesus was also warning, Saul of Tarshish(later named Paul) in Acts. Jesus is delivering Paul from the Jewish people, and the Gentiles, who wanted to kill him. Now I send you unto them, to show them how to be forgiven through repentance from their sins by believing in Jesus the son of the living God.
This was God’s plan for Paul’s life to bring the gentiles into the Jewsih faith.
Acts 26:18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
The clock is ticking. When you are a young man or woman you may think you are infinite and immortal. But as you age you realize you are fragile. The things I used to be able to do I can no longer do without effort, if at all. Trust in the Lord, lean on him for all understanding. We are all here for a limited time.
The next time the clouds surround you, and you are filled with despair, just remember that this too will come to pass. Call on your brothers and sisters in faith to pray for you, and with you, in fellowship for your circumstances. Call on our sovereign God, He will hear you and hear all your needs. God is truly the way maker. He will make away out for you. Can I get an Amen!
The incredible love that He gave us without measure, the suffering of the cross, the power of death and resurrection, and the only begotten Son Jesus, for all humanity! It’s too late to make excuses for not knowing or receiving the grace of salvation and grace bestowed upon all.
Don’t you love Jesus our Savior even more? And remember when you read the words “And It Came to Pass” you can rejoice for this too will not last.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Amen!
